Again, another fan that does understand how a truly dominant D helps the whole team, especially a QB like Dak who should not be asked to do to much.
The Defense is critical no question about that. Which side of the ball is the weakest. I’ll let this point go but I’m drafting Offense

Do you understand how a dominant defense makes things easier for the offense? Do you realize how many dominant defenses in NFL history have won Superbowls with mediocre offenses?

Your in good company, Jerry doesn’t understand either. Well okay company.

Tampa Bay won the Superbowl a couple years ago because their D was dominant in the playoffs and Super Bowl. Brady got all the press while driving the bus, but TB’s defense dominated!

Dan Quinn coming back is a huge win for the Cowboys, not just because he's a great DC but because Dan works great with Will McClay in the offseason and together they acquire great talent for this defense. A third year of DQ as DC should lead this team to the playoffs yet again. We'll need a better offense to get to the Championship games but that's a different subject so I digress. Dan Quinn staying makes me happy and hopeful for the Cowboy's future.

You can spend the entire draft on defense as long as you get me a quarterback in the 1st 3 rounds

It doesn’t change the fact. Please look at the last four teams playing in the playoffs. The head coaches are offensive coaches. The quarterbacks the best in the league. winning teams have great offensive lines. Complementary football has good defense. I understand Your point I’ll take a great offensive team over defensive. But that’s just me

We need to get 3 or 4 DTs and hope we get a couple that can start.

You give up 33 points in two road playoff games I want to see a change come on the other side of the ball .
I want to see improvement, yes!

This D is capable of being Dominant. It is not there yet, but it can be with a few good moves.

Dominant D makes everything easier for the offense, especially Dak. Some of you will never understand this.

I completely agree with this philosophy. Of course we need a WR on offense, and we may need RBs is they cut Zeke and Pollard moves on. But the focus has to be on the defense. I am not big on signing Linval Joseph. But I think Dalvin Tomlinson and Hankins wont cost much and they can get the job done well enough to keep out LBs clean. We need to figure out what to do with LVE. I think he is going to get some offers so we may have to rely on Damone Clark and Jabril Cox. I am not against tha't move as long as they get the big DTs who eat up blockers. I like LVE but the CAP situation being what it is, I think I'd rather spend the money on DTs and a WR.

In the first round of the draft, I think we'll go CB or WR. and whatever we do in the first we will reverse in the 2nd. We need DL help but 3rd round DTs or DEs will be projects and high risk picks.

But come September, I want to be able to run the football any time I choose. And then I want a defense that can shut offenses down in crucial situations, late in the 2nd or 4th quarters.

Quinn coming back is GIGANTIC!!

We will have the same scheme. The players are familiar with it. Quinn can make small tweaks, here and there, to improve it!

Our D was very good in the playoffs. With a few strong pieces, I believe our D could become TRULY DOMINANT!!!! DOMINANT Defense has won a lot of Superbowls. Possibly hire a new OC and use Dak as a true Bus Driver! No, 5 receiver sets. Don’t overly relia on Dak! Relia on the DOMINANT D!!!!!

To become DOMINANT on D( Jerry has actually done this before. He should be desperate to do it again):
1. We need another dominant DE or TWO! (see Charles Haley move) Micah will not be playing DE all the time. Maybe, Sam Williams will step up his game. He has the physical talent, but does he have the attitude, and will to win, like Micah?
2. Upgrade at DT with a HUGE run stuffer or TWO. Possibly, Joseph and Suh will be available.
3. Find the best CB possible!( see Deon Sanders move) My 1st choice would be Jalen Ramsey!

Just think about this D:
Diggs and Ramsey at CB with Bland in the slot( + great depth )

Dominant DE( to be named later ) with an improved Sam Williams and improved Armstrong. Micah gains 20 pounds and rushes from everywhere, or plays more LB and rushes selectively( many options with Micah).

Hankins, Suh, and Joseph( or 2 other big run stuffers )

This offseason we need to use every tool available to build a DOMINANT D( the draft, free agency, and trades). The moves mentioned above, still leave plenty of draft picks to upgrade in other areas.

Build the D STRONGER and don’t relia on Dak as much.

If our D was a little stronger this year, even with Dak’s bad play, we could have beat the Whiners 9-12!!!

We are not that far from a DOMINANT D if a few good moves are made!!!!!
We can't afford to focus too much on our D. We desperately NEED to add to the Offense this time around. Have to balance things out and compliment each other or it'll end similarly again. We dint have the luxury of having. Franchise QB that makes guys around him better, it's just the opposite sadly.

Need a dominant D to protect Dak from himself. :muttley:

I am not sure Joseph or Suh would be the answer. I don't think they helped the Eagles all that much. Do agree they need and upgrade there. Bring Hankins back. Draft a DT for once high in the draft without reaching.
Bland looks like to be a good CB, and need to see if he improves upon that. But yes another shut down corner you can't pass on if there. I seen that the Rams may look at trading Ramsey. Yes, then Bland in the slot. Lewis still has a year on his contract, but coming off a major injury. He can provide some depth.
Suh and Joseph were rag dolling 49er linemen. In the limited role they had, they played very well. Suh sounds as if he wants to stay in Philly.

Let’s just hope a team doesn’t spring 2 QB’s on us next year. We will be doomed.

Philly may not be able to pay Suh. Philly is going to have a bunch of FA’s too.

Many mediocre offenses have won Superbowls with dominant defenses.

We are so close to a truly dominant D and many of you people don’t realize how special that would be!!!!!
“Oh no, our offense needs more weapons our defense is good enough”= many fans who have no clue what a dominant D can do for a team!!!

We'll probably go heavy on offense to try and surround Dak with talent since he has none.

The history of the NFL says Dominant defenses, with mediocre offenses, win Superbowls way more often, than teams with Dominant offenses, and mediocre to good defenses!

Having a DOMINANT D is way better than having a dominant O!!! It’s not even close!!!!!

That would be dumb!

We should find a OC who has an excellent run scheme, shore up our O line( I think it will be really good when healthy) and go all in on making our D Dominant!!!

A couple pieces added to this D will make you ecstatic!!
A truly dominant D, and Dak will just be asked to drive the bus and make 2-3 plays per game. No more forcing balls into coverage out of 5 receiver sets.
