This D failed but it wasn't all on Quinn the coach's failure, it's not like Q is an idiot, he recognized early that his quickest way to possibly elevate an entirely stagnant defense was to build the back seven first, safeties were cheap and he recognized and understood that was at least an area that he could improve the quickest, affordable.
I'm not blaming Q for this franchise ignoring the DL position for decades, what I recognize and appreciate is the influence Q has with McClay, Overshown injury was significant and will be an immediate add when healthy but that's an entire thread in in of itself.
