Random thoughts after rewatch

I'll leave out most of the obvious and/or things that have been said often. Credit to the many unmentioned players who really showed up to play.

-Biadasz: I'm not ready to give up on him. His run blocking is more than acceptable. We ran all over them all night and he was right in the middle of that many times. He does seem to get pushed backwards in pass protection more than you'd like. He has been around long enough to have maxed out strength wise, so thats a bit of a concern, but I wouldn't go advocating for Farinok just yet, and I doubt the team is considering that at this point.

-Overall depth: The Garrett era felt like we had a top heavy roster. Some stars, names, etc.....but when one starter would go down the drop-off would be quite noticeable, and the opposition seemed to inevitably exploit that and it would cost us. Now when guys like Collins/Wilson/Armstrong go down, we have others to come in and offer up a similar performance.

-Speaking of Steele: He just looks different. Last year he looked like your average fat man....like an extra in a football movie. Now he looks the part of an NFL tackle and is backing it up on the field. If I'm Collins, I'm nervous.

-JSmith: One play aside, he really did play pretty well. The spy role is probably where he is best used at this point, and the coaches are doing an excellent job of putting people in the right places to get the most out of them....something that was missing here for a very long while.
...Yep, Quinn making the most of Jaylon. Somehow gets him in right spot. Just dont put him to guard against the run. Cant get off his blocks.

On your comment about Biadasz having been around long enough and maxed out his strength....the guy is 23 years old, he's in his 2nd year in the NFL....given his youth and tenure there is still quite a ways to go in terms of being able to add strength and improve his ability to use leverage more efficiently.
This.
Biadasz is just getting started and absolutely will get stronger.
Not sure how good he'll be but where he is now is not it.

And your point about the Philly Dts is dead on. We also already faced the other DT tandem that could be the best, in Tampa.

People thought he would be almost as good as Fredbeard because they went to the same school. He needs size and strength. I would keep looking for O-Line players in the draft.

Agree on Biadasz. I'm more interesting in ending the Williams experiment and replacing him with McGovern. Williams has had 4 years and has probably hit his ceiling. He isn't bad, but he isn't great either. McGovern is stronger and is the future - let's do it now.

Move Connor Williams to FB/TE.

McGovern to Center.

La'el to LG.

Play the best 6 OL.

Getting him as a 4th round comp pick (so basically the 5th round) was great value.
If he was just a life-long backup it would be great value that late.

Few players ever were or ever will be Freddy. He was the ideal center.

Don't love that, only because as far as I know McGovern has never played nor practiced at Center. That's a very unique/specialized job on the OL. Would rather ride the young career center, warts and all, and shore up the a-Gap at LG.

It's not about playing the best individual OL, it's about the best combination.

I believe McGovern played some center in college.

I believe it's more about footwork, hand placement and leverage. Where Biadasz gets in trouble is when he allows the DT to get into his body with leverage and doesn't sink his hips to anchor. Those are things he can work on. He needs to use his hands to try to keep the DT off his body. He needs to get low when the DT tries to come in low. And he needs to drop his anchor with the DT is trying to shove him back.

He played center in college and has also practiced this position with Cowboys.

This Biadasz talk is nothing but pure nonsense. ITS HIS 7TH START!!!! He has been playing against the best tackles in the NFL. He is a GREAT young center prospect. People are spoiled with Frederick. He is already better than our previous homeless guy. He is a MONSTER in the run game.

There is basically a couple Biadasz trolls on this site that keep pushing a hate Biadasz agenda. The kid is the real deal.

J Smith Hasnt been exposed yet, but he will. The Dline is doing so well he has been able to just hang back most of the time. WE saw on the ONE big run play they tried he looked lost. Wait till we see a REAL team with a good run game doing that. Hopefully Parsons will be back at linebacker by then.

What was Zeke doing in the huddle on the second to last play. He looked like he was faking an orgasm! Lol, it was funny and showed me that this is a tight knit group. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Total and complete nonsense. The kid is starting his 7th game of his career. He was hurt half the season last year. This is really his rookie season. The run game is dominating with him in the middle. It doesnt help on pass plays that he plays right next to the challenged Williams.

You do realize I was being supportive of bliadaz and supporting that it was nonsense to say he had maxed out his strength right? He's going to keep getting stronger.

I was disagreeing with the op

yet , I saw he was totally out of place to tackle the RB or mistackled him in couple of long running plays , the eagles had only 3 good running plays I think.

It was one, which I acknowledged.

I don't like him either, but he isnt the disaster he was last year and I speculate that may be due to coaching.

Yes and I was supporting you.

I was going to say something along the same lines. I coached high school OL for many years. If the kid is strong enough to win in the run game, he should be strong enough to stand his ground in the pass game, he just needs to work on technique.
