That is what's sad for you. What's sad for me is that this stud can't play because of a rule that shouldn't damned exist.

And it's perfectly fine for me to debate/argue that in relation to RG.

Yes it is sad to me that he can't control himself, His problem is bigger than the NFL rule on drugs. Again what you think the rule should be does not mean a damn thing what matters is players abiding by the rules and fact is the majority are able to do so.

He can control himself. He chooses to medicate over the NFL. It's sad he has to pick between the two. Just blithering sad.

My thoughts don't mean "a damn thing" in context to the NFL, but I'd like to think they mean something to this debate, on this fansite. Stop being rude, 101, it's unbecoming.

It seems the old farts running the NFL are on the road to get rid of these outdated and self defeating rules. Gregory should be playing now!! Its long overdue for the NFL to turn the responsibility for discipline regarding pot use over to the clubs.

There are other alternatives believe it or not weed is not the solution. He can't control himself if he could then he would have stopped after being busted the 1st 3 times and claimed he was better and had it under control or when he came out of rehab. Failing before the 4 games suspension happened. That is not control. As I said about the rules, there are a lot of rules I don't agree with but so what my views of the rules do not mean anything I can abide by the rules set down or I can suffer the consequences of breaking rules. It is reality not wishing and hoping for something.

I'm not trying to be rude but you seem the think that rules you don't like should be done away with and that is not how life works

Not rule(s), stop being dramatic. I'm a law-abiding citizen that thinks RG should be allowed to partake and play. Stop reaching. And yes, you were rude.

I want the NFL to let players play when they chose to smoke some weed. It's not life or death, 101, like you're making this out to be.

For Randy, obviously, there aren't other alternatives. I don't partake, but I have battles that do. It helps them, and that's all I damned need to know.

I mean, seriously, there are so many more reprehensible offenses that get swept under the table. We could discuss booze or opiates or the many violent events that happen practically every day in the NFL. Being suspended for the season of smoking pot is an outrage and frankly the fans should start complaining to the league office about this injustice.

Players can't self-medicate and they can't do it with a banned drug

RGregory has no one to blame but himself

I wish him well and want him on the team badly but the NFL can't have a 'look the other way" policy on weed.......not with concussions and liability and lawsuits so prevalent..... even the idea that a player played under the influence and got hurt is a non-starter..... maybe if they used the non-THC salves for pain relief but it would still need to be under a Dr's supervision

It isn't the same stigma........opiates are prescribed and guys are getting shot up during the game

I believe marijuana offers relief to many injuries and disorders and isn't addicting like pain pills but it is still considered a street drug that gets you high first and foremost....... no Doctor tells these players to self-medicate with alcohol even though it offers temporary relief because its main purpose is to get you buzzed

Stigma.

Great post, B, nothing to disagree with there.

The league's policy is the problem, Bull. Not Randy.

He can't be on the field for some damn weed. Really? Like, really? The NFL has players beating on women, taking roids, driving drunk, and RG can't play cuz he puffs on some weed to relax himself.

Disgusting
I've read through part of this thread a saw a few "If he can keep clean" posts here and there. I think it has become evident that he cannot keep clean. However, the push to change the Marijuana policy officially began this past off season. It is now a topic for off-season owner's meetings and CBA negotiations. I can't predict when or if there will be a change, but it is more realistic to think that a rule change will occur than it is to think Gregory can stay clean.

Not sure, but I think that Gregory does not accrue years while suspended, so we will still have his rights for a while. There's no upside to cutting him as long as he doesn't take up a roster spot, so the Cowboys will just wait it out, hope there's a softening of the rules and see what they have when/if that happens.

I patently disagree with this. He has looked dominant. Did you watch his first game in the NFL against the Giants? Before he suffered his high ankle sprain? Did you listen to Charles Haley, in camp during his rookie season, practically drool over RG?

He hasn't had a chance to produce due to disrupted seasons, Z. But boy has he flashed enough for me to consider him a wasted (by the league's antiquated rules) blue-chip prospect.
Liking this post for your use of the word "dominant." It's the grammar **** in me. Thank you. (I will retract that thank you if you ever write loose" when you mean "lose")

To your point, I haven't seen enough on the field to be convinced he'd play well. Because of all the issues, we still don't know if he'd develop. So I don't think we can say "he'd be a bust anyway" OR "he'd be great." But I'd still be intrigued if he plays again.

Well, shyte. There it is folks. Pack it up.

He's a chronic addict, he's failed 7 drug tests, he'd rather get high than make millions playing Football....if he didn't learn from the first four failed tests, he never will........And if you think Gregory can go a full year without any supervision and not fail another drug test, then I have a deal on some swamp land in Florida for you.....

My thing is, he looked extraordinary in 2015 preseason and game 1. He also looked extraordinary in the last two games of 2016.

The rest is muddled. In 2015, he was battling a high ankle sprain, and they can linger, Erik. I don't and won't evaluate him on his backend performance in '15 because of that. Similar to how Texans' fans didn't over, or under, evaluate Clowney before he was given a true season. Look how he produced. He's a dang stud.

I think RG has more upside than even Clowney... or did, at least.

As for the grammar. Grammar **** here, too! I try to reign it in. I also commit multiple infractions with the girth of posts I submit :D

I like swamps. Florida is nasty, tho.

To your post, that's my point. Read what I've submitted in this thread, if you will. He shouldn't be in trouble. Shouldn't be failing any "tests" because there shouldn't be any.

Addict? Whatevs. There's far more opiate addicts in the league than RG's weed dealio. But it's legal for them to take 60 Norcos a day. Kill RG!!!
