My thing is, he looked extraordinary in 2015 preseason and game 1. He also looked extraordinary in the last two games of 2016.

The rest is muddled. In 2015, he was battling a high ankle sprain, and they can linger, Erik. I don't and won't evaluate him on his backend performance in '15 because of that. Similar to how Texans' fans didn't over, or under, evaluate Clowney before he was given a true season. Look how he produced. He's a dang stud.

I think RG has more upside than even Clowney... or did, at least.

As for the grammar. Grammar **** here, too! I try to reign it in. I also commit multiple infractions with the girth of posts I submit :D
Fair enough. It's just a difference in percetion. Where you see "extraordinary" I just see "promise"

I like swamps. Florida is nasty, tho.

To your post, that's my point. Read what I've submitted in this thread, if you will. He shouldn't be in trouble. Shouldn't be failing any "tests" because there shouldn't be any.

Addict? Whatevs. There's far more opiate addicts in the league than RG's weed dealio. But it's legal for them to take 60 Norcos a day. Kill RG!!!

Make a hundred Million playing Football or spend my days smoking weed......pretty easy decision there for me, but apparently not for Gregory, that's an ADDICT!!!!

It seems the old farts running the NFL are on the road to get rid of these outdated and self defeating rules. Gregory should be playing now!! Its long overdue for the NFL to turn the responsibility for discipline regarding pot use over to the clubs.

Agreed.

Let the law handle illegal recreational drugs. The NFL can focus on drugs that give unfair advantage on the playing field.

If anything, the NFL should focus on preventing long-term brain-related injuries. That should be their number one concern if they truly care about the health of their players, present and past.

Here is my issue with NFL suspensions. Why ban the kid from any contact with the NFL and his team? Banish him from the games and the money that comes with it, but let him practice and have access to his team. I am willing to bet a guy like Gregory would be alot better off with the support of some of his teammates and the Cowboys organization. Right now he's probably back home and in the environment that got him into this mess to begin with.

Players with Substance Abuse suspensions can go to meetings, workout with the team and hang around the facility...... they can't practice or go to games but the League wants a support system in place

But this ends after the 10 game suspensions....... when they get banished for the year they aren't allowed to come around any more until they get reinstated

I understand Gregory has a big problem. But I wonder how he can be suspended for so long for using a drug that is now legal in several states?

For many personal reasons I won't get into, I've never used "recreational" drugs. But I'm not one to judge anybody, and I can't shake the feeling Gregory is being wronged. Ask any coach or teammate about him, and they'll tell you he's a bright, smart, and friendly person.

If the NFL truly wants to rehabilitate Gregory, let him be around his teammates. Let him work out. Let him be in a productive environment where he has something to do besides trying to smoke weed.

I'm sure I'll get flack for this.. meh, doesn't matter. Call me a homer, but I'm still holding out hope that Randy will turn the corner and realize the opportunity that will forever change his life. He's an intelligent dude with freakish ability that could change the way we talk about our DL by next year, I say that without a doubt in my mind. He IS that good.
If Gregory was allowed to work while holding a medical marijuana card, like a growing number of America's population, than fans would not give one sh$t as long as he was destroying QBs.
So, let's be honest here.. this has more to do with people's individual feelings on this polarizing subject than it does about Gregory. Yeah, some would say he should just stop smoking and maybe your right. He shouldn't have broken his promise to Jerry and Cowboy nation that he wouldn't let us down. He did! Big time. But, he should be given a chance to prove himself once again when he's allowed. We aren't talking about more severe concerns like hard drugs, violence, theft, or dog fighting. (Which those players all where given more leeway).
The ironic part of it all, and I won't get into the legalities,if the NFL is really worried about players future health.. then the penalties for marijuana use should be lessened or removed completely. It's legal within states that the NFL resides, medical test have proven that marijuana helps mental and physical disorders alike, and best of all.. it dosent enhance your abilities on the field which ultimately is what the NFL is governing. The stigma of marijuana needs to change. Till then, hopefully Gregory can realize.. it's a job. A very 'well paying' job.

food for thought:

for all we know, he's failed 3 more tests because I get the feeling this guy has zero self control

If he was using hard core drugs than I could understand that point. But he clearly is self medicating his anxiety. Its really unfortunate that he wasn't aware of how cbd could have controlled his anxiety without testing positive for thc.
