How much guaranteed money does it involve?
For next season around 10 million. If you’re telling me you can have pollard on a 2 year deal which is the most he can be franchise for around 20-23million at most and no longer term commitment than that it’s fine Imo.

Schultz shouldn’t have been tagged and should be let go again I agree there but not all tags are created equal. Pollard isn’t your typical 2nd contract running back….his first 3 years he wasn’t even used and was primarily a back up.

Not me. They’ll already be taking a $10 million hit even if they cut Zeke. Add in $10 million for a Pollard tag and it’s unmanageable.

We agree on Schultz.

Forget the damn cap or how much anyone makes or if they are overpaid…

What we need is fresh legs in the backfield.

Someone feel free to show us the last second contract for a running back that worked out well for the team:

We agree on Schultz.
What about if they don’t cut zeke and he agrees to a significant pay cut ?

I think the idea about running backs on 2nd contracts is typically right- historically. I think the franchise tag is a way to kind of protect both the player and the cowboys but on a larger note I don’t think pollard is a typical 2nd contract back. Lotta juice left to squeeze imo.

That said 28 is typically the death sentence for backs but he’s 26 next year and worst case 27 the following. Then we can move on. I’d rather that than a long term 4 year deal if the front office is hell bent on keeping him

You better hope that they are able to keep both of them.
They can't unless they get stupd with their cap management and restructure some guys they shouldn't.

The reality is that if they want to keep Pollard, Schultz AND Elliott likely are gone. There is no way they can keep Elliott and tag Pollard. The cap hit for the TB position would be idiotic. Further, you can't restructure Elliott because it just makes getting rid of him even that much harder down the road (he's a declining player at this point). Elliott would need to take a massive paycut in base salary to stay. You think he will do that?

I don't know what Elliot will do. I think that it is likely that they do tag Pollard. I don't know what Schultz will do either.
