Rat problem

Antifreeze on bologna (haven't done it personally)...the big glue/snap traps seem to work too. I've heard the ultrasonic doesn't work.

i have professional liquid poison stuff, but i am not there enough to really deploy and check on it.
it worked pretty well a couple years ago.

Gotcha, no need for a rat Jonestown when you get back, etc. That'll give a kid nightmares

My surefire method of rat trapping is,, well ,wally,,,surefire!
I've always used an adhesive like liquid nails and glued a milk bone dog biscuit to the pan of a #2 under coil steel leg hold trap(coyote, fox,bobcat)
And set that pan trigger really light,,, you set a couple where you know he hangs at,,, you'll have a dead rat in that trap within 24 hours.
(Pm me,,,I'll fed ex you a couple,,, don't cry to me if you catch your own finger though,,,)

serious questions about rats and cats.
my house in SF has an unusual structure with 1.5 feet gap between a tile exterior and the inside wall.
i got a rat that is living there.

i dont have a cat and want to borrow a cat.
we got lots of feral cats in the neighborhood.
i figure out i will use some catnip to attract a few one night to take care of the rat.

i have a 70 feet long driveway that is very steep.
i figure i will use multiple piles of catnip/catfood to lure the cats up the driveway.

any ideas?
will it work?
any downside risks?
how far can a cat smell catnip from?
how much should i use?

rat poison works so so in my house. the house is very unusual with the gap between the walls and 3 levels. the darn rat could be in many places. i also do not want to leave the rat poison out while i am gone for weeks.

i did the poison trap and got one.
but the space really invites rodents so need a long term solution.
a cat would do it but i am not there enough to keep a cat.

the rat comes out to feed at night.
i can hear it moving.
i need cats to wait outside for their meal.
