Man on Wire - 9/10

It's a documentary about Philippe Petit's tightwire walk between the WTC towers in 1974. I'm a sucker for documentaries and this one was really well done. If you like documentaries as well, do check this out.

It's available for Netflix streaming in case anyone is interested and has a subscription.

It would have been great if only the story wasn't weak and the relationship between the main characters wasn't completely empty.

The game stuff was awesome though. And the action was pretty damn good.

You mean between Pilgrim and Romona? Cause I thought the links between all the characters were great, Kim and Wallace were actually my favorite characters.

The romantic relationship was the best it could be given the type of movie we're talking about here.

Yeah I mean Pilgrim and Romona, the others were fine. Knives was easily my favorite. I don't think the type of movie precludes the story/relationship from being much better.

My husband and I watched Avitar. He didn't like it that much but I think because it was too long. We actually had to stop it and finish it the next day. He said it was predictable but I thought it was great. It was a bit too long though. If any child were watching it, it wouldn't keep their attention long or it may be the other way around. If you have a kid who is can sit in front of the TV for hours without getting distracted then maybe this is a good film for you to get away for awhile haha.

Watched Blow last night, 9/10. As awful as it sounds you will actually catch yourself wanting to be a drug dealer for a brief moment.

Why do some people enjoy one hopelessly depressing movie after another? I seriously have my doubts about people that do.

Don't get me wrong...I can 'enjoy' them now and then...but...

My liberal brother cannot get enough. His movie diet must include one penultimately suicide-inducing flick per week and he drags along his poor wife to the indy theater religiously. He is such a misanthrope. He's a white man in America...but yet he's convinced there are no sins as great as being 1)white 2) male and 3)American.

I seriously think it's an Oedipal thing. He had to hate my dad for something and since dad was one rocking cool dude who everybody loved... I guess my bro having nothing else, latched onto those things.

Must. Hate. White People.
Must. Hate. Men.
Must. Hate. Americans.
Must. Hate. Humans.

...Despite the fact that the bro shares all those same attributes as my father.

It's either oedipal or it's masochism. I have an ongoing debate with myself about the cause.

In any case...it's certifiably mental.

Fanedits are your friend. May I suggest "Avatar Recycled."

What's that?

Fanedits are movies that are edited by fans (or non fans in some cases) to either correct perceived problems, fix pacing, eliminate unwanted parts, alter the flow of, or in some cases change the story of movie(s). The particular one I mentioned is a fanedited version of Avatar and is about 19 minutes shorter than the original.

Due to the rules, that's about as much info as I can give you. But it's fairly easy to find out more if one is so inclined.

Cool, Thanks.

I just saw The Last Exorcism. Pretty creepy movie. It has a slow build up but its trying to convince you that you are watching a mundane documentary, so that when the creepiness starts its more believable. Definitely a twist ending that most people seem to love or hate. I took my girlfriend and there were plenty of moments I had to reach over to comfort her, her face read "DO NOT WANT" several times. :D

By far the most annoying part of watching the movie were the other people in the crowd not shutting up so we could hear more of the creepiness on-screen.

Overall a good watch - It was worthwhile to me. But I like the "found footage" Blair Witch/Paranormal Activity type movies in general. If you liked those you will probably like this.

The Killer Inside Me -- Most ****ed up movie ever. Seriously disturbing ****. If you're a huge Jessica Alba fan. Do not watch.
