Hey, how does the redbox thing work?

I'd been going to Blockbuster since their movies are all $2 for a day, but my sister says I should get into redbox. Like how do you know what movies are in it? I went by what was on the side and wasn't interested.

it's like a coke machine

you have the images of what movies are available, and if it's soldout, it will flash so on the little screen

pretty simple

Elegy - 4 out of 10. Based on Phillip Roth's Dying Animal and I like the director's (Coixet) other work so I figured a story about a professor who gets with young ladies from his courses would kinda be right up my dark and perverse alley. Penelope Cruz is too old to play a student and was mediocre in her role. Good scenes between Ben Kingsley and Peter Sarsgaard (I think Sarsgaard is an outstaning actor). Patricia Clarkson reminds us that she is one attractive older lady. Story was just kinda flat. One of those movies where it should be so much better than it was.

Well, I knew what they looked like.

I guess I just wanted clarification that what's on the side is what's really in the machine. If it is, then I might still use Blockbuster when the redbox doesn't have anything I want to see.

My wife usually rents movies when she does the Target thing.

He's Just Not That Into You: 6/10. Pretty much a yuppie love story, the main character was pretty annoying. There are some moments I can relate to in past flings.

Gran Torino: 7/10. Was a decent movie, although Clint is pretty much past his tough guy days which didn't sell me. The Archie Bunker thing he had going on was pretty funny though.

Dark Knight: Inc. This looked like a solid flick except for the fact that I was really burnt out from the day and crashed out around 2/3's of the movie. Ledger pretty much stole the show in this one

Strange Wilderness:6/10. Lame slapstick comedy, but for some reason some of the scenes had me rolling.

The box will tell you if the movie's not in that machine. It won't be available for checkout. Like the first time I went to get Gran Torino, I couldn't find it on the search list.

But what I did the next time, you can check online and reserve a copy. They tell you where the nearest box that has the movie is, and then hold it for you for 24+ hours.

Me too... Got into the redbox thing.

Taken - 6 out of 10. Had good action, but I wasn't sympathetic to the characters much and that's saying something considering the circumstances. The 18 year old daughter acted like she was 12, and looked 20. Why the hell was she running around with that goofy run the first half hour of the movie? Trying to make her look younger? Ugh.

Seven Pounds - 5 out of 10. Like Will Smith, but too depressing and predictable. If you're on anti-depressants, make sure you have your prescription filled.

The Wrestler - 7 out of 10. Thought Rourke was good, but the rest of the movie was kind of... meh.

Slumdog - 8 out of 10. Didn't think it was the best movie of the year, but not bad. Side note: ridiculously easy questions on the game show lol.

Gran Torino - 8 out of 10. I didn't expect to laugh as much as I did in this one. Clint was great for the most part... his voice got on my nerves a la Bale in Dark Knight. And I thought the main girl was good. But the rest of the cast was pretty awful. Thao was okay until they gave him lines.

So true.

"Who invented the revolver?"

I knew the answer without even needing to see the choices.

It was kind of inverse difficulty of questions... The first couple I was like, "No Idea," but I guess in India, they would be common knowledge. But the last question, "Who was the third Musketeer?" The only tricky thing about that was they through D'Artagnan in there.

I notice little details like that though. It drives me crazy.

The Hangover: 9/10.

The hilarious wedding singer from Old School at the end could have been funnier.

Terminator Salvation.

It blew.

4/10

I'm glad I decided to see The Hangover instead. It was a date anyway and I'm sure she wouldn't have liked it.

Gran Torino-loved it.
Slumdog-:puke:

Flight 666-Iron Maiden's docu about last year's tour when the singer was also the pilot of the 747 and flew half way around the world.
For fans is a must see...Brain will love it.

Looking forward for Anvil!:The story of Anvil.

My wife came home from Blockbuster with this movie a week ago.

Where do I begin? I can't fathom how Hollywood can put out trash like this. Now I love a good comedy. Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, Airplane, Harold and Kumar, the sillier the better.

But this movie was GOD AWFUL. Unfrickenwatchable. I actually got angry at myself for watching it. The only time I even cracked a smile was when the credits started showing because I knew it was over.

Notice the convenient excuses (wife and son) that both attach to mitigate their embarrassment.

Gran Torino - 9/10. I loved everything about it. Clint's voice is Clint's voice- not a put-on like Batman's.
