Especially when it's organic CGI like people or animals. They've masterd inorganic modeling/rendering like cars buildings. There's times I'm even 110% blown away when I realize something is fake. People and animals still have a ways to go. Mocap isn't that great..the movement usually gives it away. I guess golem in lord of the rings is the best digital creature so far.

Both are examples of the darker colors, as well. Stupid to have bright blue CGI characters, in a neon forest environment. Even if it looks perfect, it'll still look fake.

By the way, all three movies were done by the same FX company.

The only living things in the world that has that sort of coloring are fish. I'd imagine they could be done well, but outside of that environment it's never going to look good.

That was pretty good CG, but some of the blue/green screen work in that movie was awful.

Star Trek (2009) 8/10

I didn't buy that guy as Kirk. I now know why the Trek nerds were pissed at Abrams for messing with the "canon."

I saw this in the cinema and was very impressed. Got the Blu-Ray for Christmas and was blown away again. If you are Trek fan, a sci-fi fan or enjoy stuff blowing up, Watch this movie.

'Canon' was changed when the Kelven was attacked. It's a whole new ballgame now. As for Kirk if you watched him develop through the film. By the end you see a bit of Shatner's Kirk peeking through.

King Kong was terrible. Bad acting and bad CGI.

I agree. I was reluctant to watch it but I really enjoyed it. I just wish it had more Scotty in it.

Ah yeah. Denzel's mistress in that one, HAWT. She's in Spirit too, which is only worth watching to see her walk bare-*** across the screen. It'll move you.

Blu-Ray is the only way to go. In addition to Star Trek, I also got the "R" rated directors cut version of Terminator Salvation and Star Gate on BD.:)
