Rate the last movie you saw

I guess like most things it's about expectations.

After seeing the trailer and knowing that Guy Ritchie was directing, I expected much more action/kung ** type material that would be heavily stylized.

So I was pleasantly surprised by how good the final product was.

I totally agree. Even after watching the previews and knowing what the movie was about, I still was reluctant to watch it. Sherlock Holmes always bored me to tears. It proved to be quite an enjoyable flick.

When we were Kings
8/10

Great documentary about the Ali/Foreman, Rumble in the Jungle fight in Zaire.

I thought the documentary did a great job of helping a person such as myself who wasn't alive during that time understand what was going on at the time, how the fight happened and what both fighters stood for, in the eyes of those on the outside.

I didn't give it a 10 because I thought there was too much music.

Robin Hood - 6.5/10

Wasn't too good. It was more about how he became the man that steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Not a ton of action either. Some entertaining parts but nothing I would suggest friends to go see.

DAYBREAKERS

Interesting take on a vampire movie. When you cant beat them...Join them.

6/10 Not enough gore or skin.

I just couldn't get past the terrible acting.

The trailer wasn't all that compelling, I don't know anyone that planned to go watch it in theaters, everyone said they'd wait for it on DVD/Netflix.

Iron Man 2 - 6.5

The original set the bar so high, but the second one lowered the bar for the third. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen it so I'll leave it at that.

Hachiko - 8/10

In a similar vein of Marley and Me, but 10 times better. If you're a dog person, you'll definately like the film.

It's based on a real dog from Japan who used to meet his master at the train station every day and walk him home, well the owner dies suddenly at work one day but the dog continues to go to the train station every day for 9 years straight.

There's apparently a statue of the dog at the spot where he used to wait at the train station in Japan now.

I watched it because we had some friends in town and I told them I had to draw the line at renting New Moon. What an absolutely stupid ending, it was like they just ripped off The Matrix.

I thought the ending worked well (movie was still just average) and wouldn't compare it at all to the Matrix ending. I do not view it as a truce at the end at all, but the virus will now work in reverse to restore humanity.

LEGION.... 7/10

I had no idea what this movie was when I rented it but it was very entertaining. well worth watching

:laugh2: I don't really count those last two putrid efforts as the Matrix, I was referring to the original movie. The ending dialogue in Daybreakers sounded way too similar in its' thought process to that of the first Matrix. riding out there and leaving the viewer with the thought that they were leading the effort to save humanity. Just seemed like a cheap, poorly thought out rip.

Sequels hardly ever live up to or surpass their predecessors.

Terminator II is the only one that comes to mind, but that happend because the previous Terminator made so much money. Oh, and James Cameron is a genius. The guy even did screenplay for Rambo II, which is another one I guess.

I'm sure there are more, but not many.

All the characters were stupid.

Kick *** 9/10

Gratuitous violence? Check.
No redeeming social value? Double check.
Plot holes and impossible stunts? Triple check.

Who cares? It's not the first "disconnect your brain" film and it won't be the last.

BTW, is it wrong to be in love with an 11-yo girl? Perhaps if I take her across state lines to West Virginia ...

I recently saw a preview for "Human Centipede". It is out on DVD. Heard it was horrible and I have no plans on seeing it, but if you want to be grossed out watch the preview.

Curious that you'd have that information at the tip of your tongue. :p:
