I recently saw a preview for "Human Centipede". It is out on DVD. Heard it was horrible and I have no plans on seeing it, but if you want to be grossed out watch the preview.

Yeah that looks pretty twisted.

Curious that you'd have that information at the tip of your tongue. :p:

I looked it up during one of the tony washington threads a week or two back.

I know. I'll be at the Wheeling convention next month.

Well luckily I am a couple of hours away from wheeling.:D

I saw Avatar on video on demand onthe weekend. Thought it was pretty silly. It was Pocohontas but in space.

It was also kind of like Dances with Wolves and I almost could that US soldier telling Kevin Costner, "you turned injun dinja"

It was just as much like Dances with Wolves as it was like Pocahantas. That's because this "story" is old as dirt and has been retold hundreds of times just like many other classic story plots have been told over and over and over again.

It's like saying one WW2 movie is like another WW2 movie or that a romantic comedy is like another romantic comedy. It doesn't matter if it's the same basic plot, it's how the story is told. You can read a book and then go see the movie version, and still enjoy the movie even if you know the ending. It's because story-telling is more than just basic plot structure.

Did you think Avatar was well written?

I haven't really put much thought into it, but off-hand it doesn't stick out as being particularly well written or poorly written. I can't imagine that it made all that money based solely on nice effects, though. So obviously something struck a nerve with people.

It made boatload of money on the opening week. So I think the fact that it was really hyped and had the cool 3D that made a lot of people show up during that time.

BTW answer my cell phone bill question. You're the financial lawyer in here.

Also, I haven't watched Avatar. But a great movie to me is about character development. Should I care about the characters in this one? Does anyone of them standout?

It made about 10% of its domestic gross during the first week/weekend. That means it made a ton of money after the opening week. It had some pretty incredible staying power at the box office.

Because about 10% of 5% of the World's population saw it during that week.

It would have made a helluva lot more money if that were true.

LEGION

As end of the world flicks go it was alright. Bunch of folks stuck in a dinner as the world ends was a nice twist. Besides Adrianne Palicki is friggin hot! She's in the new Red Dawn also. Cant wait to see them, er...I ment her again...

8.5/10

Any film with a old crazy woman crawling on the ceiling cant be all bad.

Hachiko - 8/10

In a similar vein of Marley and Me, but 10 times better. If you're a dog person, you'll definately like the film.

It's based on a real dog from Japan who used to meet his master at the train station every day and walk him home, well the owner dies suddenly at work one day but the dog continues to go to the train station every day for 9 years straight.

There's apparently a statue of the dog at the spot where he used to wait at the train station in Japan now.

Saw it last night and cried my little eyes out at the end.

Precious 9.5/10

This is a great but heartbreaking movie. Most of us can't even fathom the lives some people endure and survive. The cycle of abuse (financially, physically, sexually, verbally, emotionally, etc) is vicious.

MacGruber -2/10. Pretty awful, not very funny, just more of a "***?" most of the time. A few chuckles here and there, but that's it.

I'm glad it was free.

I'd have to get paid to see MacGruber in theaters.

My wife was at work and it was the only thing I hadn't seen that I knew she wouldn't be upset if I went without her. Plus I had a free pass (thank you AMC moviewatcher).

I saw "And the Band Played On" in its entirety last night for the first time. It's the story of the outbreak of AIDS and the efforts/non efforts made to find the cure.

All star cast and pretty well done.
