Something's stopping you from seeing them?
Tell them to come on Comedy Central at midnight and/or star Danny McBride.

Truthishly, Ive only see a couple of movies that came out before I was born. It hasnt been intentional but the longer I wait the worse they look to me

Is it me or are you always reviewing old movies Ill never see?

I don't think reviewers here should be bounded by your weird film idiosyncrasies.

I like good films regardless of when they were made, based on their personal merits. And also, older films are interesting time capsules of the attitudes of their particular periods.

No Casablanca for you! Etc.

A Visit to Ali Farka Toure----------------7/10

A documentary on one of my favorite musicians. Not great but not too bad either.

Not sure why, but I watched Friday the 13th (the 2009 edition) last night on cable. (HBO?)

I'm also not sure why they made another one.

2 of 5 stars. Rinse and repeat.

The Jerk is actually pretty good, if you're not into Steve Martin, you probably won't enjoy it but it is a good movie.

Was this a Ry Cooder connected film, or another later visit/film?

This is a different one. This one was published in 2002. I'm not sure about which film you're talking about.

The album with Ry Cooder, Talking Timbaktu, is a great album.

If you like that type of music and especially a collaborative effort by African and Western musicians, i would highly recommend 'Kulanjan' an album featuring Taj Mahal and Toumani Diabate.

He HATES these cans!!!!

I love this movie.

My coworkers bought me this as a going away gift when I left....they said I was a "Jerk" for leaving.

All in good fun......I think.

Get him to the Greeks - 7/10 overall

9/10 for being funny (What do you do when someone slips you a jeffries? :laugh2: )

5/10 for everything else.

The Best Kid (Like the Japanese, I refuse to call it The Karate Kid since the movie is about Kung **, not Karate) - 2/5

I didn't find it all that interesting really although I did like Jackie Chan in it. They tried to make these kids look like they were in the matrix or something at the end there, which was absolutely pointless.

lol, that's exactly what my BF said too. I'll probably watch it sometime in the future.

Get Him To The Greek - 7/10 very funny, especially P Diddy. I don't recall seeing him in the trailers or even knowing he was in the movie, but he was great. Just make sure you have at least a drink or two before viewing this one. No need to see it in the theater, but definately rent the dvd.

Trust me, I have no problem whatsoever with your rating. Nearly 5,000 votes on IMDB.com averages out the same as yours. Additionally, some of the paid critics have not been nearly as kind as you. :)

It's done a respectible $70 million during it's opening weekend, mainly due to its core audience. What will be interesting is how well it does this upcoming week/weekend (I'm expecting around a 70% dropoff at the box office). A portion of the hardcore fans will return, but I doubt that most of its fans will not. It's overall potential run during the next 3 -4 weeks will greatly depend on word-of-mouth from the majority of its fans as well.

I would recommend the show to anyone. In my opinion, it is the best American made anime ever. You can catch it on Nickelodeon. It's pretty much the ONLY thing I watch on that network.

Shyamalan's already headed down that road. This movie may do better overseas than here, but I will believe it when I see it.

Nooo! It has to make enough money to justify a sequel...Just so I can see the best character ever on the big screen...Toph. :(

Shutter Island - hard to rate really. Maybe 4 or 5/10
I liked the story, wasn't all that crazy about Scorceses attempt to force a mood on things with the overloud, oddly placed music. It struck me as him trying to get a feel for the way movies were made in the earlier days.

I'll grab the book though, based on the story.

Alice in Wonderland

7/10

Great performances ....... but the plot had some serious holes in it.
