He was really good in boiler room. Riddick was terrible. And yet he has a following from Pitch Black/Riddick.

It's easy to hate on Vin and the riddick movies.

However I did like the second one.

I thought the last one was just basically a remake of the first one though.

No hate for Vin. I like him actually.

I didn't know it was a remake. Thought it was continuation of sorts...

He screwed the pooch for a lot of years.
He did FF in 2001
XXX in 2002

Didn't do XXX2

Sat for a while.....

Missed a bunch FF sequels
Got lucky and got back in FF

XXX could have been his franchise block.
Then FF franchise.

He could have two sets of movies.

Oh well...

Funny thing.... I remember driving though brooklyn, NY and seeing PITCH BLACK in huge letters on wall near subway... Didn't know what it meant for years.

Also, the marketing for XXX was great. Just billboards with big XXX on them and a date.

XXX made $277 million total

Not an actual remake.

Just my opinion that is was a remake of the original.

People on planet, he is the "bad guy", they have to get off the planet before some terrible monsters take over...kind of the same as the first.

The second one was just much better IMO.

Big Hero 6

I was hyped not by the trailers but by the fact it has now become one of Disney's highest grossing movies. That said, I found it relatively boring without a great payoff. The end seemed sort of tacked on and the story was pretty formulaic. Just seemed like another film popped out of an Orwellian novel-machine.

5/10

Really, I thought it was great. I put it just a tad below "Wreck-It Ralph", which I consider one of the greatest, if not greatest cartoon movie of all time.

Vin is one of my favorites now. A couple of years ago, the wife and I were at a stop-light on Sunset, just before Hollywood. I looked over and it was him in a nice Mercedes. I poked my wife and said "is that who I think it is?". Sure enough, he looked at us and pointed to my Cowboys cap and gave me a thumbs up :)

Unforgiven and Narrow Margin.

Everyone probably knows unforgiven and most are going to like it.

Narrow Margin is a lesser known movie but has Gene Hackman in it.

As much credit as Gene Hackman gets for his ability and career...it seems like he is still underrated IMO.

When people list the best actors ever most of the time he is not in the top lists...however he should be.

He makes everything look so believeable and effortless. He makes you forget he is an actor. I will also say that he is not, nor really ever was, considered
a Hunk looking guy. He could play so many roles (good guy you loved, boring guy or the bad guy) and even though he might not have the looks of a dashing leading man or the body of a big action hero...you still believed what he was playing.

Great actor and it seems like even if he might be in a movie that is not that great, he still does a good job.

One of the few actors who almost never had a bad movie. All his movies are a good watch.

If you've seen people get shot in movies before, you haven't really missed much. Re-reading the first Harding thread probably would've been more entertaining.

I would agree with this. I actually really liked the first one. We caught it on a whim in the theater not knowing what to expect. The second one was a good popcorn flick. I still catch pieces on TV from time to time. The third one was like a much, much worse version of the first with a built-in excuse to make a fourth at the end.

Karl Urban has to be terrified right now if he has a multiple movie agreement to be in this franchise.

Just saw a Korean action flick on Netflicks that came out in 2013, called 'Suspect'. I can't believe it flew under my radar, but that movie was awesome. Makes Bourne look basic.

Cypher... Weird movie, only reason I even gave it a chance was because Lucy Liu was in it... Meow.

Very slow, dry, different but not terrible.. Doubt I would watch it again.

Definitely felt like a first director. Jumped around and I didn't care for some of the hallucination stuff. Not as powerful a movie as I thought it would be, but glad it was made.

Cinderella-bit the bullet and took my 4 year old daughter to see it. Pleasantly surprised. Cate Blanchett stole the movie as the wicked stepmother. I'd give it an 8.

I watched "The Raid 2: Berandal" a few days ago. Great action flick from Indonesia and was even a selection at Sundance. It takes place in Jakarta a couple hours after the events of the first Raid movie. A rookie cop goes deep undercover into one of the dominant organized crime families to help build a case against the corruption within the police department.

If you're a fan of action flicks, this is your kind of movie. Great action, great production, just an all round great action flick. The first Raid movie was great but The Raid 2 is even better. I can't wait to see The Raid 3, unfortunately it won't be out for a couple more years : (

The Raid 2: Berandal 8.5/10

Snowpiercer was a little disappointing. After a failed global warming experiment, survivors board a perpetual motion train. After years a caste system develops and sparks revolution between the poor in back of the train and the affluent in the front. It had some good moments and had some good reviews, but for me it just fell flat.

Snowpiercer 5/10
