Guardians of the Galaxy - 9 out of 10.

Just a great time at the movies and the reason I go to the theater. Great cast, great director, great humor, and just awesome special effects. What they can do now is simply amazing!

If you loved the first one as I did, you'll love this one too. Can't wait for Volume 3!

And the folks running Marvel Studios are brilliant. Midas touch.

Wonder Woman actually looks really good based on the trailers so far.

There was a lot of resistance to Gadot as WW; probably some from me, too. But she is a great fit.

I really think WW has a shot at being the best DCU film to date.

Man of Steel and Suicide Squad looked really good too in the trailers. Hopefully, they finally get their act together over there at WB.

My take as well, just a good, fun movie. If I had to complain about something, thought they dragged it on a bit too long. The last 30 minutes seemed to last forever.

That's true. MoS looked outstanding in the trailers.

And Suicidie Squad's bohemian rhapsody trailer looked fun.

I think the one advantage they have with WW is that that Marvel hasn't done a female lead yet; so I don't think DC will try so hard to be different that the movie ends up being stupid.

One thing I feel that Wonder Woman already has going for her is her theme song, introduced in Bateman v Superman. That thing rocks!

And it seems like a lost art in Superhero movies nowadays. In years past, you had iconic scores from guys like John Williams, now it's just mainly some music thrown together.

Agreed. That's actually where DC is ahead. A lot of the marvel themes sound really similar and generic.

But WW and Superman have objectively great and distinct themes.

Hans Zimmer's great work doesn't stop with MOS, DOJBS, and the upcoming WW movie. He's also responsible for the TDK scores. 12 Years A Slave. Gladiator. The Lion KIng. Even lesser known works like the excellent anime Blood+ soundtrack. It may be slightly arrogant but Zimmer's work ranks up there with John Williams' in my opinion.

I don't think it's arrogant to think that. Hans Zimmer is one of my favorites. I have a 'work' playlist on Spotify that's mostly Zimmer and Clint Mansell.

bummer, I was hoping it was WW2 related, I can't get enough of that ****
Lol. I see. Okay, I mentioned Hans Zimmer's work with the DC movies and made you sad because WW wasn't what you thought it was.

How about this? Christopher Nolan and Zimmer are tight. Zimmer has worked on several soundtracks for Nolan's movies. Their latest joint venture is... wait for it... Dunkirk. It's set for release in July.

How do you feel now? :p

Gold - 8/10

Pretty weird movie but in a good way. Slow at times but interesting enough to keep ya tuned in. It is based on true events.

Took Grandson to see Guardians of the Galaxy while wife and daughter went to see the Goldie Hawn movie on Mothers day.. Grandson Loved Guardians. He is 15. I thought it was ok for what it was. Just not my type of movie anymore. Then took him to see the new Aliens yesterday. Purchased the chair in the movie that moves around and by end of movie I was done. Then came home with him and rented the older Aliens with Sigourney Weaver. The old one is so much better than the new one and it isnt even close. Those were the first time I have been to the movies in months. I used to go all the time. it isnt worth it any more. I can see why movie theatres will probably be obsolete in a few years.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 8/10

It was a really fun movie. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was worth every cent (matinee prices). The 3D visuals were stunning. Unlike the first movie, I had high expectations for this one, and except for some minor quibbles my expectations were met.

I sat through the end credits to see all the snippets. I'm always glad to see them, but sometimes when the movie is over I'm ready to leave. One thing that was highly annoying was two people a couple of rows ahead of me who started staring at their phone as soon as the credits rolled. Sad part was, it was a family of four and it was the parents who started looking at their phones. I thought for sure it would be the teenage girls, but it was the parents. Luckily, a guy sitting just behind them made a snide comment loud enough for them to hear. It went something along the lines of there being a big *** 3D IMAX screen showing some really cool stuff, but looking at a tiny phone screen in a dark movie theater was WAY better.

Movies I have seen recently

Guardians of the Galaxy A-
Get Out A+
The Circle D-
Life F
The Arrival D+
XXX The Return of Xander Cage F
Hell or High Water A-

Some I would recommend if you haven't seen them but I really enjoyed these movies

The Warriors is one of my favorite movies. Every guy who sees this film loves it.(No big actors and it is older but still holds up today.Playstation made a video game about it I think about in 2007 of this movie)

Reservoir Dogs-Great robbery movie(Has Steve Bueschemi, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, & Tim Roth)

Defendor- Kind of a weird comic book hero but it has it's moments(Woody Harrelson)

Donnie Darko-troubled high school kid sees a 6ft green scary rabbit with silver eyes as his imaginary friend,. Come to find out the rabbit isn't so imaginary afterall.(Jake Gyllenhal,Patrick Swayze,Drew Barramore)

Rollerball-The original 1975 version not that crappy remake in the 2000s. Kind of dated with the hairstyles and the pants, ,but the action scenes are still awesome (Stars James Caan, John Houseman)
