The Man with the Iron Fists 5/10

I just could not get into it. Seemed disjointed.
No way! That movie is the ish! I give it a 10/10. RZA totally did a good job, no matter what the box office says. He stayed true to several elements of the kung-** genre, and made it campy too. Great flick. I might go see it again today, actually.

"Last minutes with Oden." A six minute documentary that's well worth it. Can't post it here. Search Vimeo. Check it out if you haven't seen it already.

Finally! I watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo... incredible! 9.5/10

...and I only subtract .5 because of having to watch it in subtitles :D

Swedish version is the better one I believe. The rape scene is even more violent in the Swedish version as the American version didn't include a punch in the face.

Get the Gringo - Mel Gibson

Watched this last night on Netflix. 8/10

Had never heard of it before but it was actually very good.

Skyfall - 6/10

Hate to be a wet blankie, but I was very disappointed. Don't know if I bought too much into the hype from hearing everyone say it's the "best Bond ever", but it felt like it never got started. Very slow film. Felt Javier Bardem's character could've been so much more.

Definitely not in the class of Casino Royale, in my opinion.

I didn't think it was slow and felt a lot shorter than I expected with the run time, and I do think it definitely got started, but once it did, it went off and turned into some other movie that wasn't all that great. Disappointing 3rd act. And yes, the villain after a pretty good start (once he finally shows up) turned out to be not all that special in the end.

The sad thing is that I don't have interest in seeing it again anytime soon. After viewing Casino Royale, I knew I'd purchase it the day it was released on DVD.

Each Bond film has certain scenes that we all look forward to...I may be a little bitter right now, but I can't think of any such scene in Skyfall.

When Bardem pulled out his teeth and his jaw collapsed, I was hooked but the last few scenes were a bit slow.

Skyfall

9/10

I thought it was the best bond film in my opinion. It was by far better then Quantum of Solace and I thought it was a little bit better then Casino Royale. Going to see it again to tomorrow and will also see Lincoln. Did anybody read the book that the movie will be based on?

Skyfall - 9/10

By far the best Bond I've seen. Just a great movie. The only problem I had was the first act which seemed too slow and cliched. The second and third acts were just phenomenal though.

Skyfall 9/10 for me. Love DC as Bond. Pulls off the action hero role. He is the best Bond as far as I'm concerned. Connery was the original, but I don't think he could pull off the action sequences that DC pulls off. Very entertaining film. Glad they minimized the love scenes. The Bond Girls were nothing special and no need to extend those scenes.

Skyfall - 8/10

I'm a sucker for a Bond flick. I loved it. I dinged it two points for the slow parts, I started to feel like it was running a bit long towards the end but I can't think of anything I'd have cut out.

There were some parts that weren't exactly believe able as far as how perfectly the villain timed a few of the events only to be foiled by 2 fire extinguishers. I definitely wanted to know more about him though, as far as crazy bond villains go, he was certifiable.

This was the first bond film where they also explicitly explain that Bond does everything he does primarily because he loves his country. Not because of the perks. Not because he loves the action, women or money.

I thought he origin story would have been grittier though. Instead, he's basically Batman.

Wow, nobody's watched a film in three weeks? ;)

Saw The Hobbit in the new HFR 3D format (High Frame Rate)...

WOW!

That new experimental 3D is pretty awesome, I thought.

As for the movie:

Kind of like watching Lord of the Rings all over again, really. Typical Peter Jackson, with a lot of reusing the same tricks and stuff from LOTR. Was kind of cool to see how Bilbo came to possess the Ring.

I'll give the film just a 7 out of 10.

Looper

One of the best of the year. Pretty surprised where the it went at times.

I liked it a lot. Didn't watch in new format (can't wait 3D due to motion sickness). I liked the riddle scene between Bilbo and Gollum. And, I like meeting Radagast (the Brown wizard). I would say 9/10.

I will say, after watching The Hobbit, we went back to watch the LOTR, and picked up a lot more of the references.

I thought the high frame rate was terrible! Absolutely cheapened the experience. Complete soap opera effect the entire movie, and at times things seemed to be jerky or in fast forward. Totally takes you out of the movie, and I honestly can't even say how I felt about the movie itself because of how distrsctingly bad the film looked in this format. It should only be used for CG or they need to adjust how they shoot films to account for it.

So, was it the whole Hobbit, or is it in fact only part of the Hobbit? (ie, more movies coming to complete the story)

It was most decidedly just the first part!
