I ended up seeing two movies, both in Dolby.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms - This was bad. A terribly basic and poorly told plot. Bad acting. Poor action. The title is misleading. It was off from a technical level as well with a lot of bad editing and poorly framed shots. Amateur hour with a budget.
Bohemian Rhapsody - Overall, pretty good. For the most part it is a fairly by the numbers music biopic that is elevated somewhat by Queen's music. Performances are solid all around, and it never felt like it dragged. However, it never really did anything to be amazing, and sometimes lacked a kinetic energy. That is, until it absolutely nails the ending (final 20-30 minutes). That ending certainly elevates it a good deal. Overall, the movie sounded good - very clean - but was slightly disappointing to me. It felt a little...restrained. When I saw A Star is Born in Dolby, the audio was so enveloping and made it not only feel like I was at a concert, but that I was on the stage too. Here, it felt like I was watching a movie with really good sound. While both sounded great, one took it to another level. Now, this was less true of the end which felt much closer to being at a concert. I doubt anyone would really be able to tell the difference if they didn't see these movies on a Dolby Screen, or anywhere else that had Atmos or similar.
