I've seen the first one, it was alright, felt similar to an Australian movie "Lake Mungo" that was done in a mockumentary style. I watched "The Blackwell Ghost" a couple months back and I kinda liked it. A filmmaker goes to a haunted house to prove the existence of ghosts and It's presented as a documentary and it really feels like it might be. They do a good job of keeping you engaged, there's enough creepy stuff, but doesn't feel over the top and feels believable. It's only about an hour runtime so it doesn't drag on and feel slow like many of these type movies seem to do. They have made several sequels, believe all with a relatively short runtime also, I keep meaning to check them out.
Blackwell Ghost actually has several. Ive only the first two, and enjoyed both

A Quiet Place - Day One: This one kind of disappointed me. I felt pretty bored the last 2/3 of the movie. Just not very compelling or exciting IMO.

Never heard of this one before so had no expectations. I liked this one.
Nothing new. But they did a good job with it even though it is not as good as some other movies of the same topic but I did like this. If you have never heard of it...give it a try.

Finally got around to watching this one. It’s currently available on Netflix.

As I expected, I liked everything that had to do with the monster. He was truly menacing and the effects were very good most of the time. There were a few hiccups that should have been cleaned up.

But the ‘drama’ was cringe worthy and I found myself forwarding over a lot of it.

The bellowing sound and music brought me back to the Godzilla movies when I was a kid and I appreciated the nostalgia.

I’d give the monster stuff an 8, and the human stuff a 4, so I’ll settle on a 6/10.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F:

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was well-executed, with a solid storyline and a delightful dose of nostalgia, thanks to the reappearance of familiar characters. The action scenes were engaging, and it captured the essence of the 'Beverly Hills Cop' vibe perfectly. Plus, there was a surprising Hollywood crossover in the movie (which I won’t spoil) that I absolutely loved!

However, I found Taylour Paige’s performance a bit underwhelming at times, as it occasionally broke the immersion for me. My wife and I also reflected on how seeing childhood actors and actresses aging significantly can be quite a sobering reminder of our own passage of time. Though, for being in his 60s, Eddie Murphy is holding up well.

Overall though, while the film didn’t revolutionize the genre, it was a nostalgic and enjoyable experience. It's currently on Netflix for anybody that has that service.

Finally watched a movie that had been highly recommended called Come and See. Very few movies, if any, showed the sheer brutality of war in such a manner. This is a must see, period.

The Bikeriders.

I like this money but the main female characters voice irritated me.

Also this is one of those types of movies that you liked after watching it but you are not sure why because there was not a lot of action. One of those types of movies you enjoyed but at the same time not one you would watch multiple times...if that makes sense.

the batman.
10/10.
loved the darkness.
excellent story.
dark knight trilogy is still the gold standard...but this one was excellent.
can't wait for part II.

While i on't care for Dark Knight Rises ( Bane) ,..I will always adore the Dark Knight - Christopher Nolan's shining reward

- never have or will be a superhero movie flick with as ingenious plots, twists and turns as Nolan's Dark Knight.

agreed.
the dark knight...in my opinion...is THE batman movie of all batman movies.
if what we fell in love with as kids in those comics were to occur in real life...it would look EXACTLY like it did in the dark knight.
i'm convinced that ledger's joker knew bruce wayne was batman.
it just felt like joker knew who he was.
epic.
historic.
the definitive batman movie.

I'm old school ...and cannot get enuff of this Cagney black & white classic classic ..
.:yourock:
Back before cable, they would run all those old classics late night on the weekends and loved those old Cagney movies, all the old gangster movies really. "The Public Enemy", "White Heat" etc, but my favorite Cagney movie was "Angels With Dirty Faces" with Cagney, Bogey and Pat O'Brien, great movie.

Seven Samurai
The legendary classic by Akira Kurosawa. I had seen bits and pieces and clips over the years, but finally decided to sit and watch the entire movie, all 3.5 hours of it. It's a great movie and a classic for a reason, Kurosawa was a master filmaker. It's one of those movies, even if you've never seen it, you've seen it because the story has been told and reimagined countless times over the years in different settings and genres. It's a familiar story that continues to influence filmakers to this day, movies like "The Magnificent Seven", Star Wars and more recently "Rebel Moon" were influenced by this movie. 10/10

Zatoichi Blind Swordsman Movies
It's taken a year, but finally watched all 25, yep 25, of the original series of Zatoichi movies. These were a series of movies starting in the early 1960's to early-mid 1970's, starting in black and white to color movies. Zatoichi is a blind yakuza that wanders the Japanese country side, with a bounty on his head and works as a traveling massuer and gambler. He's got mad skills and will flash them at times to deter a fight. He doesn't use a katana, but uses a cane sword and when he does fight, the fights are quick, no long drawn out battles here, few last longer than the time it takes to draw his sword. Some of the deaths are over the top and exaggerated, but the sword play is top notch, even today.

All the movies are pretty much stand alones and does have a lot of reoccuring themes. Even though, he considers himself a yakuza or gangster, he does have a code, he doesn't harm or take advantage of the innocent or weak only others that live the yakuza life or those seeking to claim the bounty. He commonly defends the weak, young or powerless and does not like bullies. There's a fair bit of humor mixed in, a lot of fancy sword play and a fun watch. Each movie is around 1.5 hrs, so fairly quick watches. I found all the movies, as well as "Seven Samurai" for free at The Internet Archives and all pretty good quality. 8.5/10

The Dead Dont hurt

New western with Viggo.

Very slow, very dry.

The acting was good, the cinematography was good.
The story however just had flaws to it.
The bad guy was over the top bad guy with no
motive to be bad although they kind of hint to it later.

Viggo and the lady decide to become a couple and live together
only for him to leave her out there on her own while he jaunts off to join the union army for a few years.
What the heck was the idea behind that.

Film just made some oddball choices IMO.
