Envision this with fists and you have Ray Rice.

Burnt-Toast-Hangover-Cure.jpg

They lost Birk to the Vikings started flipping the struggling Oher and he had a hip injury in 2013. He may never recover from said injury but if he is cheap someone will give him a shot. He improved as the year went on.

Instead of going after peterson or spending a first round pick on a rb, why isn't Ray Rice a good football option? he's only 28, he can run btw the tackles, pass block and catch out of the backfield and can probably be had for less years (like 1 year), less guaranteed (like veteran's minimum) and less risk than a drafted rookie running back.

So the only thing I can see people having apprehension with is the domestic violence issue. But as far as a team that had enough faith to keep josh brent and sign greg hardy, it seems like a moot point to me. Unless it's too much baggage to handle? thoughts?

He's down to 3.3 yards a carry now. He's the new A.D. All Done

Like I said when people say a history they don't mention one time either. You can play obtuse all you want but you rarely if ever hear people say a person with one incident of something has a history of something. People will say Mayweather has a history of DV but not Rice. Honestly I didn't mention anything about second chances even though if he does its he's right so I don't care about that part.

I'm not one of those who said he had a history we don't know about his history concerning domestic violence because a lot of incidences between couples are never reported especially by women involved with high profile individuals. They don't want the media attention or the embarrassment. I've seen many interviews with women who've been abused by their husbands/boyfriends and many don't report it until the abuse gets out of hand. Some never report it and eventually end up dead. It starts with verbal abuse and it escalates from there. I find it very hard to believe that was the first domestic incident between Rice and his girlfriend. It's going to be difficult for Rice to get a second chance because of how disturbing that video was and how big a story it became nationally. It rocked his and the NFL's world.

An organization taking on Rice would have to deal with everything I've mentioned including the possible loss of sponsors. A player with his reputation would not only cause a huge PR nightmare and distraction but it could fracture a teams locker room. Some players are going to have an issue with him Hardy just had an altercation with a team mate calling him a wife beater. A team taking on Rice would have to deal with all the disdain from some of their own fans as well as heckling from opposing fans on road trips. No team is going to want to take on all the issues signing a disgraced player like Ray Rice would bring to their organization. We've exhausted this discussion it's time to move on to the draft.

He's getting interest or so its been reported

The only scenario I can see any team showing interest in Rice is if they lose their starting RB in training camp or during the season and become extremely desperate. It's been 5 months since Rice was reinstated and after several weeks of free agent movement no one has signed him so it's obvious it's going to take a desperate situation by some team later this summer to risk the PR nightmare/distraction he will bring to their organization.

Much better off with a rookie. Even prior to his off the field issues he wasn't a very good option his last year, maybe even two. I know he barely averaged over 3 YPC during his last season with the Ravens.

That thread along with this one shows how some could care less about a players character.

I don't worry about hypotheticals particularly one that didn't come to pass. You want to be an emotional hypochondriac then you go ahead. This is the same type of nonsense that was bandied about with Ray Lewis back in the day.

I think the US justice system with due process is the best way of justly getting to the truth of a matter in the world. It prevailed with Hernandez and Lewis.

I don't start these threads I contribute and give my opinion and if they rub you the wrong way don't read them. If I'm posting nonsense then how come Ray Rice is still without a team 5 months after his reinstatement? No one knows exactly what went down with Ray Lewis we didn't have a video of that. Nothing could be proven which wasn't nearly the case with Aaron Hernandez did you even follow that case/trial? We know exactly what went down with Ray Rice and his girlfriend we have a video of that which is why Goodell did an about face and suspended him indefinitely and the Ravens immediately released him. If that incident never happened Ray Rice would have a team...FACT!

Predicting alternate realities and calling them facts is fun. If he continued to have a bad year in 2014 he could have washed out of the league. He wasn't good the year before at all.

Ray's incident plays a significant part in why he isn't on a team right now. So does the fact that he isn't good anymore. He had a bad 2013 season and looked poor during the 2014 pre-season. If he showed anything during the pre-season last year the Ravens don't cut him. He is done.

I do think Ray half paid the price. And will continue to pay the price. I wish him luck as a security guard, florist or pharmascist whatever he decide to be. If this ugly scenario half not yet convinced him to act just and right then he will never learn. but if he get the chance fine he can be a upright citizen and live long and well in this grate country.
