I agree. Jerry wants the triplets back...yeah still, but if Stephen is not on board giving Zeke top money, it could be very interesting when the time comes. I lived through that 90's era, we were special for half the decade. The issue we have here is that our team philosophy is marketing, and team. Zeke sells jerseys, and puts a lot of money in Jerry's pocket. The best part is Zeke is a great player. So, Jerry is living memories, and is making bookoo bucks on top of it. Same with Dak, and now, man, ...Amari just put a sweet luscious kiss on top of it all (Mr. I'm floating away like a butterfly, batting my eyelashes Jones).

Also, other teams may be able to go with the switching backs and not overpaying approach, but the Jones' are considering things beyond the field, propelling this team into the marketing stratosphere and ching-chinging it all the way to their nearest financial institution. He may give Zeke a big contract, although I do not think a record breaking one.

Lots of great points that I didn't consider. Zeke is $$$$

I'd say it's a debate. That's why it's split at the moment.

It might be true that no RB does what Zeke does, it's definitely true that Zeke can't do what some other RBs do. So doesnt really matter.
It’s not a debate because Jerry (and every single GM) would never let Zeke walk. Just as Gurley isn’t going anywhere.

You want it to be a debate. That’s clear. There is less than Zero evidence that’s its a debate for Jerry.

Been seeing a lot of talk about the upcoming decision of what we do with Dak...and rightfully so, as I feel like he’s been incredibly inconsistent but that is another conversation.

What about Zeke? Obviously this dude is the heart and soul of our O. I was on record saying we should’ve drafted Ramsey due to how easy it is to draft serviceable RBs. Not saying we made the wrong decision bc Zeke has been stelllar... but look around the league...

Steelers
Chargers
Chiefs
Etc...

Key RBs go down and life goes on...

Not saying don’t pay the dude, but I think it’s a serious question to be considered whether or not we make him the highest paid RB in the league moving forward at the expense of paying other guys on the team.
Serviceable running back? Give me a break. Zeke is more than a serviceable RB. The Cowboys know the longevity of a RB in the NFL and will do the right contract. Zeke deserves a contract. Emmit deserved his contract. Zeke is a warrior. He hasn’t missed a game because of injury. Fans want to shove him to the side thinking they can get anyone to replace him. Ridiculous . Ignorant.

It will be quite interesting for sure. It seems as Jerry has given negotiation power over to Stephen. I honestly do not think he wanted to release Dez, but he relied on Stephen and McClay.

Edited: What also hurts Zeke's negotiating power is Goodell has a target on him. Just look at the ridiculous fine he just got. He's one silly mistake from being on the exempt list.

Pittsburgh's offense improved......... Connor plays on offense.

"One missed series without Gurley, how about games" wth are you talking about? He hasn't missed gamed to use as a comparison lmao

"Chargers wont go anywhere without Gordon" Says who? They just beat one of the top three teams in the league without him. Lol is this guy serious?

McFadden and Alfred Morris did a solid job behind this line hahahha. Put a somewhat talented back back there and youre gonna get solid production. Do better

Sounds like you have an agenda, hoping that's the case because your arguments are irrational.

I’ve said all along 4 year deal the 5th year option then tag and draft another guy if you don’t feel comfortable 2nd tag. I d rather pay the O-line D-line both LBs and maybe a CB. You can’t keep everyone and RB is the easiest to replace.

In the next 3 years who do you keep
Lawrence probably 20 mil
Gregory will be cheaper for a DE due to history
BJ best CB in the league this year
Dak he is a QB means big money
Cooper has played like a stud at least 16 mil
Jaylon has played like a top LB
Collins might let him walk if you can draft a guy
EE RBs are the easiest to replace and I doubt he will take less than the other big name RBs we see getting deals

I'd franchise him twice then let him walk. I don't mind paying him big, but just not long term. The shelf life on RBs is too short to give him a massive 5 or 6 yr deal when his current one is up.

Life goes on when you have Brady, Ben, Rivers, Mahomes

Not when you have Dak
For all the talk and back thumping about the team that has been built, without Zeke this is a 6-10 team
Dak is an average to below average starting QB

We invested the 4th overall pick in the draft and in exchange we have the best RB in the league.
We clearly value RB enough to pay him. You don’t draft any player #4 overall, have him live up to his draft slot and then let him walk.
Doesn’t happen and won’t happen with us.

I generally agree. We will see. There are not many 4th overall picks that were suspended 6 games for DV (which we know was BS). However it is what it is. He's one false accusation away from a lifetime ban. Stephen knows this and has generally been cheap. It will be interesting.

Zeke will be signed to a 2nd contract. He can live up to that. It’s the third contract we shouldn’t even consider. The same was really true for Emmitt, but he was an icon at that point, rushing record, etc....so we were stuck, really.

And yet the team found a way to go 3-3 without Zeke last year. These imaginary records crack me up.

Another question is how many teams in the league pay the QB and the running back?

If Dak is our guy, can we afford both?

This is the Emmitt - Barry debate sorta.

Zeke is a power back with good straight line speed. He’s an elite back. Whether he’s the best is debatable. You put a Barkley or even a McCaffrey behind our line, you don’t get the same power, but you get more wiggle, a WR type RB, and more HRs. But you may lose some 3rd down conversions. You may lose the concept of wearing a defense down and DBs who don’t want to stick their heads in there in the 4th quarter.

The point is that any RB can be replaced if your OL is good. Different RBs give you different things. There are probably at least 10 young RBs in the league that would start for us and produce big time, and we would still be winning. But they aren’t all “as good” nor do they all have the same traits. Kamara is definitely NOT a Zeke, but he would be fantastic in this offense.

The fact is that unless you bring in a RB in the 3rd to 5th round every couple of years, you won’t have that great backup that shows you you’ll be okay to let Zeke walk. You need to have that guy on your roster ahead of time.

This isnt asking if its a debate for Jerry. It's a debate on our part on what we think the right thing to do is.

Nope, they are laid out perfectly for everyone and are quite rational lmao.
I'm being truthful, sometimes the truth isnt what everyone wants to hear.
