k, I'll play along.

Where did I say JJ Watt isn't an impact player?

You said he's much less impactful than an OL. That they "just don't have a ton of impact on the game. They just can't." Which is foolish. Both are trying to win the line of scrimmage. Both are equally impactful.

If Tyron Smith can dominate his man it greatly impacts our offense. If he gets dominated that impact swings the other way.

And my point is that even if an OL gets "dominated," that's only going to result in 4-5 impact plays. With JJ Watt, maybe it's a couple more from time to time.

If an OL is dominating, you can run behind him 20 freaking times if you want.

Yeah and my point still remains. Its foolish. Just because a DL may only have a handful of sexy stats a game for the simpletons to marvel over doesn't mean he's not making an impact on every snap.

I guess you just need to understand the game and since I'm stupid and you're smart you should have picked up on this by now.

I forget the guys name but a Texans DL had 2 sacks last week. How? Because JJ forced those sacks to that guy.

I'm fairly confident this is what you mean..;)

Yea, OL really have lots of statistics to hang their hats on.

DL will always be limited in their impact because, quite simply, you can just run the other way or use quick passes and that sort of thing. I don't care if you have Randy White out there, if he's lined up over Leary or in the gap on the left, and we run a stretch to the right, he's probably not going to do too much.

I mean, it's whatever, I get your point and understand the argument, I just don't agree with it.

My original response was that you're a jabroni for bringing Claiborne into the argument again...

Give me the dominant left tackle EVERY time. After QB, left tackle is the most important position on a pro football team.

I find it hilarious when people say DEs make impact plays, but a LT doesn't. Really??? Completely taking away the opposing team's best pass rusher isn't considered "making impact plays"? News to me. I think a dominant LT makes an impact play on EVERY play that he stonewalls the opposing team's pass rusher.

2nd most important position on the football team? If so, it's amazing that the long line of recent Super-bowl winners have had average at best LTs without as single of any them making 1st team All-Pro.

Mark Tuinei was never voted All-Pro, but he was an big part of the early nineties Cowboys' success.

Perhaps that standard doesn't really fit because it obviously takes a great all around team more so than just one single player or position. Not many of the recent Supebowl winners had all-pro pass rushers or league leading sack artists, either. That doesn't mean teams should pass on draft great pass rushers such as Watt. I'm sure Seattle would gladly swap their first round pick in 2011 for either J.J. Watt or Tyron Smith.

Considering that the position of QB is without a doubt the most important position on the field, the guy protecting his blind side automatically becomes 2nd most important in my opinion. That's why those guys are drafted so high. Of course it takes an overall talented team to win the Super Bowl and great players at other positions can compensate for other less talented players. But, I don't see how anyone could even attempt to downplay the importance of the left tackle position. I guarantee you that not a single NFL headcoach does.

I remember people being upset when we drafted Smith at 9.

Oh well ....... hindsight is 20/20

It's a Biblical reference to making a decision and not looking back. Who was it, Lot's wife who looked back and turned to a pillar of salt?
This is a dumb post...even by your standards.

You really going to the subject of dumb and standards?

I don't hide in a corn field and expect much higher standards in another's perceptions, for starters...as to insult, come again? They still appear as a person locked in time...

If one can't handle a solid core association, by all means...stay away. Salt pillars are still in the Middle East...and that's still just a fact.
