Re-draft question Smith vs JJ Watt

Right now I would hate to have to pick between the two.

JJ. Watt could go down as the best DL of all time though.

I think Watt is very, very good... but no way is he better than Mean Joe Greene. As big of an impact as Watt has had, Greene had a bigger one. Phenomenal player and it is almost impossible to describe his impact on the game.

I always felt like Reggie White was the best DL ever but right now Watt is pretty much a 1 man defense.

I do. He could do things that nobody else could do. It can be debated, but I think he was the best ever.

Yeah, I would definitely put Reggie White on the top of that list, along with Decon Jones. Would be hard to pick between the two of those guys, for me. Greene was a heck of a good DL, obviously one of the best ever as he is in the Hall, but I don't know that he would make my best of all time list.

I agree. But I'd take MJ Greene over White... although it would be close.

If you haven't watched a football life about MJ Greene, you need to find it and watch. He played angry all the time. Truly intimidated opponents. When Lambert and Mel Blount was added to Greene... you had the best, meanest defense in history.

As good as JJ is, DTs, or even DL in general, for the most part, just don't have a ton of impact on the game. As big and strong as today's OL are, they just can't.

You can take JJ's 4-5 splash plays a game or Tyron totally wiping out every passrusher that comes at him...potentially 50 plays a game. That allows you to do so much more offensively.

It is the demeanor that Greene played with that makes him the best, IMO. Plus, he was quicker than most much smaller guys.

You are so correct...I had forgotten about Mean Joe. He went to North Texas State U, my hometown of Denton, TX. The best D Lineman that I can remember, and I've seen a bunch!

I'm pretty familiar with Joe Greene. I watched him almost his entire career. He was a great player, for sure but he would not be my choice. Now, full disclosure, I can't really say if it's because I'm objective on the matter or because I have a deep seated hate for those Steeler teams. I'll let you be the judge of that.

I was joining Asthma with Mean Joe, but then you go and bring up the Deacon...Damn! Another all time great. That's some good debate material, there!
