Go look at my thread in the Off Topic Forum about Music videos. How is that going to be fixed?

Ok, so if it's not working, then I know it's one of those things that he plans to work on, because he mentioned to me that it was one of his to-do items.

His main priority was converting the site and some things had higher priority than others. But I know the youtube embedding tags will be fixed.

Given my track record, I'll probably like the change in three months.

How about a history of why the change is taking place.

My ignorance in this area (as well as others) is vast. It looks like a lot of smart, hard work.

The main reason for this change is that it was time for it and I finally found new software that was worthy of replacing the old software. When I have more time, I will try to post a "thought process and history" regarding the change.

Thanks for all that you do to make this site better. I usually just come on here to read, get up to date info and check out the various views of all the members good or bad. Nice variety of discussions to read, links to go to for all kinds of info. You get the comedic replies, serious discussions just a little bit of everything. The Match URLs entries enable content to be embedded from various URLs. Each entry must include the {$id} token, which is used with the embed code to strip out the video ID.

Taking YouTube as an example again, any of the following URLs would work when embedding a video:


The result in all three cases will be embed code as previously mentioned:


The Embed HTML field is responsible for how any embedded media will actually appear in messages. This code is usually available from the respective site and can take several different forms, only one of which can be used with each BB Code Media Site entry.

The {$id} token in the Match URLs strings must be present here to enable the video content to be identified.

In most cases, the code can be edited to suit; for example the width and height values can be changed, along with the various other parameters. You will need to check the site in question to see what options there are.


I wanted to use a tag for Youtube and cannot because of this stripping the ID thing, can we change that to modify the embed parameters?

I really appreciate all of the positive comments from everyone! This was a lot of work to get to this point, way more than I expected, and there is still a lot of work left to do.

I am pleased with the comments I am reading and I am very excited about the features I have planned for the site even after I finish the conversion and transition process.

He's still tweaking some things...which probably includes the youtube tags and whatnot. He had a lot of customizations on the old site and I'm sure it's going to take awhile to get them running similarly on the new platform.

I think it would be great if everyone could continue to note which features they liked and which features aren't working for them.

I had an issue with trying to get the site to run on IE10...and it turns out that all I had to do was turn off compatibility mode. Sooo, simple things like that may help others as they get used to the site.

One thing I'm trying to find is how to adjust my thread settings so that I can get back to 40 posts per page. This 15 post per page sucks..

Exactly! I will do my best to fix everything that is not working correctly and I will continue to tweak the site and settings as I get more time to play with that area.

Yes I like that feature makes it easy to find the threads you've commented in. If you look in the upper right hand corner where it says "alerts" anytime someone quotes you there's a notification.
