Real Cowboy fans? Please be truthful

I am a Cowboy fan that does not reside in Texas. I have been to Texas Stadium and generally people are nice. I know at least half this board is probably not from Texas. I want your opinions and please don't feel shy.

If you are from Texas, particulary the Dallas area, what do you think of Dallas fans from outside the area?

They are not our home team. We had been exposed to them alot when we were kids and adopted them as our team.

I know what makes the Cowboy brand so powerful is their global appeal. But as native Texans, do you feel you are more of a fan or that fans outside the area are not the same as we admire them from afar?

I had some debates about this and wanted your input.

Hell yeah! I was born and raised in Texas. I was raised a Dallas Cowboys fan since I was a youngin'. I didn't have a choice. But, I get to see the other side now that I live outside of Texas. (Never leave Texas if you don't absolutely have too. ;) )

The fans who have never lived in Texas and happen to call themselves die hard fans of the Cowboys are indeed out there. But honestly, I have yet to meet one outside of Texas, and there are a few self-proclaimed Cowboys fans that I know of, whom I work with, and none of them have the passion that I do. Quite evident.

But I love the fact that we are nationwide. I completely respect and consider you a friend if you are Cowboys fan who has never lived or stepped foot in the great state of Texas!

The reason you start supporting a team is irrelevant. Your quality as a fan is determined by your loyalty to the team during down periods, not geography.

imo the non-texan fans are the reason the cowboys are the best football franchise in America.I dont think you will find many Texans who begrudge fans from out of state.

Now if you were a Texans fan trying to start a thread like this, you'd get laughed at first, then booted for being the village idiot. :D

It was Minnesota. Last game of the 1982 season. January 3, 1983.
I guess that explains why the other fans weren't cheering...

Since memorable games were brought up....I've seen a dozen or so games at Texas stadium but the one play the sticks out in mind the most was when, Mcnabb scrambled on Monday night for what seemed like 30 sec and then threw a bomb down the field and Cowboys were blown out. The Philly fans were awful I saw no less than 4 fights and one was girl on girl.

It means that because of their geographical nativity of the southwest, they are, in part, connected to the ecological, cultural and societal milieu of the adjoining states and thus, appropriately, Cowboy fans. I hope that is enlightening because I am sure it will be.

Yeah, I feel you now. Thanks. Like I said, I wasn't trying to be a smart aleck or whatever. You know, if someone misspells a word or leaves out a word, I try to put it together and come up with something. I couldn't come up with anything on that one. Thanks again!

While I have been living in New Jersey all my life, I have been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys 48 years, true blue can not describe my fandom because It goes way beyond that.

I've had the pleasure of going to Texas Stadium on several occasions, I have not yet witnessed the beauty of Cowboy Stadium in person as of yet due to work obligations, but I will visit soon.

As far as the state of Texas goes, I couldn't comment on it because I was born and raise here in NJ and frankly, I wouldn't live anywhere else in the country. But I love my Cowboys, my house is decorated with Cowboy banners, mailbox and other memorabilia to show my "True Blue" support.

GO COWBOYS

now that's intelligence and sanity. to think GEOGRAPHICAL closeness some how makes you more passionate fan only speaks to the stupidity of rednecks that is Texas.

now, how is that for stereotyping. :)

so let me ask some of those who think being GEOGRAPHICALLY closer makes them a fan, then what about people in Iowa? Montana? Idaho? North Dakota? Utah? Nevada? Mississipi?

does that mean these fans and millions living in those areas are not true fans? give me break. what stupidity.

Since I'm a native Texan that moved away, I think I still qualify to answer this.

I'm okay with all Cowboys fan except a few. You know the fans that weren't Cowboys fans when they were 5-11 several years in a row, but now are on board. Of course that goes for those types of fans no matter where they are located.

I'm a Texan now living in Indiana who was not always a Cowboy fan--but have been for decades. The one's i can't stand are the Cowboy haters who live in the Promised Land and refuse to worship the Chosen Ones.

As a third generation Cowboys fan born and raised in the great city, state of Dallas, Texas. I have absolutely no problem of people from out of the city or state. EXCEPT ! If you are also a fan of the following :

Lakers

Yankees

Redwings

Then, yes I do have a problem. (Mostly because I hate those teams).

But then you could also say the same with the fans before the 5-11 seasons couldn't you ?

I disagree with when they became a fan, as long as they are a fan.

You are missing the point. I consider myself a diehard Cowboys fan, despite not being from Dallas. My question was do folks from Texas look at us outside the area fans any differently. So do, most do not.

First, because you are a Cowboys fan, you are automatically bruthahs!
DUH!
Why?
Because you CHOSE to be a Cowboy fan even though you are away from God's Country.
Now, geographical genetics is complicated, and I know you will never feel completely Texan. But the thing is, little bros, you are probably THE BEST FANS AROUND!

You have to put up with turds and America haters at work on Mondays. Still you suffer in silence, knowing you are on the side of America and the right path.
You don't go to the local Big Foods store and see lots of people wearing Cowboy jerseys like in my hood. Here it is total Cowboys attire and nascar hats and that is the way we like it.

Little buddies, outside of the boundaries set forth after the transfer of land from Mexico to Texas and the U.S., while you dont live in Texas you are something even better:

You are a Dallas Cowboys Fan and you should be damn proud of it.
I cannot write no more, for tears cloud my vision and cloud the computer screen.

Be proud and have no insecurities at all. Go on, go forth.

Damn I can't wait for Sunday. Got me all amped up for the game with this, good read. :starspin:

I'm talking about bandwagon fans. Not fans that joined at a specific time. That makes no sense.
