Both part of the problem in niners game. As was zeke, pollard injury, defense dropping easy picks.

Moore a problem as well.
Combine all of that and the confused reports from MM, Dak, Jerry and Stephen and you're making a case for small incremental improvements all round and back on the improvement coming from within and MM's schemes and play calling.

Again, your words, not mine. Im certainly not for this go for it all in one year and destroy the next 3 years after mantra.

I would definitely spend big money on a DT or linebacker. Wouldnt spend on a WR. I would use the draft for WR, RB, OL, CB or LB.

Oline needs to be fixed or were never going to win it all. It all starts there for me. That alone will make the offense more consistent and potent.

You can upgrade both a run game and pass game just by improving your oline.

Personally I think we need a speed #2. I was disappointed in Gallup but I feel he’ll be better this year. If not, cut him next year.
They are going to hedge their bets on Gallup and add another high-end receiver, think they may do the same with the bottom of the position as well, the likes of Tolbert, Semi gave them virtually nothing last season.

LVE is going to be hard to replace. Hankins is O.K. but I think we have seen such horrible play at the spot for so long that he looks good by comparison. There needs to be an upgrade. Run defense has me worried.

1tech, Vander Esh and Wilson are the keys to the run defense.

They are average in both run blocking and pass blocking. Couldn’t recover from Steele? Tyron was his replacement. Which strengthens my point. We need turnover as much as we need quality.

Steele is great run blocking but mediocre pass blocker. And now she’s recovering.
It took Tyron time to get adjusted back to the right side and he wasn't as good as Steele, especially for the run.

They are changing their scheme, heard they want Dak to quickly get the ball out, not all those 5 steps drops he was doing. The WC offense is all about yards after the catch. Getting the ball out quicker, will make it easier on the OL as well. As for the running game, the scheme will help, but also replacing Zeke will give them an upgrade.

The good news is they were excellent against the 49ers in that area and they are real good running team. Think Quinn finally realized Parsons is better off the ball in obvious run downs. I am a big supporter of Lve, but they cannot overpay him due to his injury concerns. Wagner would be a real upgrade, even at his age. Wilson is very replaceable, much easier to find a run supporter then it is to find a coverage safety.

The OP was actually a great breakdown until you got to the free agent class. No chance we sign all three of OBJ, Wagner, and Peterson. I doubt we even sign one of them. I appreciate the optimism, but we don't have to give the GMs any credit. History shows they will not sign anyone to a big contract, and will plumb the depths of the league for role players who are willing to do one year deals for cheap.

The class will be comprised of underproductive but highly athletic players, or once productive but injured, that contribute only as role players. Reminder: We also had very little at receiver last year and their big signing was James What'shisface. I expect more of the same this year.

Stop talking about what you think they are going to do. I dont care about that. I care what you think they should do or I think they should do. If you cant get past that simple concept lets move one.

Agree on all. We still need a better Oline. Opening holes wont be any easier and you still need protection. Play action must work.

I find the FO of the Cowboys very incompetent. Teams like Kansas City are still able to acquire talent despite Maholmes spectacular 200 billion dollar contract.

I don't buy into Capboy's excuse that they have worry about Diggs, Lamb, Parsons, etc. They are just lazy and because they lack any football knowledge, they are afraid to make trades that can take this team to the top.

We all have to keep in mind that the team has 4 big extensions on the horizon, 3 could be close to top of the market:

Diggs, Lamb, Steele, Parsons

They are all long-term pieces for this team and aren't going anywhere.

We are fully aware how Stephen Jones uses free agency, plugs all holes with bridge, low cost starters so they don't need to reach to fill a need in the draft. If they are going to spend big in fa, they have always done so with the WR position-major trades with Galloway, Roy Williams, Amari Cooper, signing TO, etc.

Offense

-I'm expecting either a big trade or big fa signing at the wide receiver position. Both Jerry/Stephen stated at the combine, they would like to add 1 more offensive weapon. OBJ is the favorite and would be the smallest cost as they don't have to give up draft picks to sign him, but Hopkins, Cooks are all in play. Believe Noah Brown has priced himself off the roster.

-Shultz will playing elsewhere. The Cowboys offensive coaches stayed back last weekend to work on their new scheme, except their TE Coach. This suggests they are looking to draft one this year and could be an higher pick than we have seen in years. TE Class is loaded this yr.

-McGovern will not be resigned, team reportedly loves Farnoik and he can play both G/C. Tyler Smith is expected to start at Guard this yr and Tyron moving back to Left Tackle. They will come up with an contingency plan for expected time missed for Tyron as they are comfortable with their three tackles.

-Think they are going to slow play Zeke Elliot, as they receive much more if he is a June 1st release. Jerry continues to say he wants him back, but Stephen says he cannot play on his current contract. Will Zeke accept a 2-3 million deal? They were looking at running backs at the combine, which suggests Zeke's time could be over.

Defense

-There are reports that the team is far apart in contract discussions with Lve. If Lve signs with another team, we can expect another veteran starter to be signed. Clark isn't ready and don't think they want a rookie starter at the position nor move Parsons there full time. Yes, Bobby Wagner will be in play, will he take less to play with Dan Quinn? If Edwards was still here, I bet former Viking, Hendricks would become a Cowboy. My guess, Wagner will be signed and finish out his career here. Don't think Barr returns.

-The same things are coming about Donovan Wilson, being far apart in contract discussion. Unlike Lve, they do have some in house replacement options. They also had close to 10 formal meeting at the combine with safety prospects. I am expecting to see Wilson signed on day 1 to a big contract for another team.

-Anthony Brown is now over 30, coming back from an achilles injury. Either they resign him to a low level, 1 yr deal to rehab with the team or they sign a bridge, starting fa. Word is that Diggs has been trying to recruit Patrick Peterson to sign with the team. He makes much more sense then trading for a Jalen Ramsey. Probably sign for less then 5 million and replace Brown as the starter.

-Dan Quinn forced the team to trade for a NT during the season, this would of never of happened during the Garrett years. Fully expected to see Jonathan Hankins resigned. Question is will they sign another NT or draft one on day 3 again like they did with Bohanna/Ridgeway? A'Shaun Robinson would be an excellent signing, heard Brockers has some interest. Fixing the run defense is priority #1 for the defense. As for the rest of the DL, Fowler might return on another 1 yr deal, if the cost is right.

Special Teams

-The Long Snapper will be resigned, question is what do they do about a place kicker? Do they sign a veteran fa like Gay from the Rams? This would be the best way to fix the position.

Free Agent Class

-OBJ, Wagner, Peterson, Hankins, Gay or someone similar at K.
Cowboyny - - report back to CZ two weeks from today on how your predictions turn out...and your assessment on what the Cowboys FO actually did in FA at that juncture.

Knowing the Cowboy Front Office, probably have to wait a little longer.

The good news is Seattle had a poor OL and ran the ball well when Solari/Schott were there together. Agree, we probably are 1 good starter away from completing the OL for the future.

It doesn't matter what I want, I am projecting what they will do. I would draft that #1 Center in the class as I see him as an elite starter.

Good post, I agree and I would love to see those guys you mentioned brought in. Makes more sense than Ramsey and high priced guys.

We need another stud and we need Tyler to be a stud.

I agree Center is #2 on the line, but Biadasz is playing too well for that right now. Mcgover replacement is where we need to next stud.
