There has never been a successful QB project under Jerry Jones. Only 3 QBs have been successful as starters - Troy Aikman, Dak Prescott and Tony Romo.
No successful QB projects under Jerry, except if you count two franchise QBs for one fourth round draft pick.

Wrong....Facts are Bryan Broaddus is responsible for scouting and standing on business for 3-5 players on a Superbowl team. This is far from a "secretaries" responsibilities.

Even Carson Wentz won a Superbowl (horrible non-sequitor)

The NFL is about Contracts and availability....Trey Lance didn't earn his 5th year option after being under McCarthy since last season.

If Trey Lance had shown any of the markers of a Franchise QB off the field since last year, Jerry Jones would have taken the 5th year option and have REAL leverage against Prescott.

Now the Dak Haters have a new toy and narrative....Trey Lance's arm is useless if he's still a one read QB
:lmao2: Yeah Jerry will pay $25 million for Dak’s backup to replace him in 2025. If Jerry was going to do that, Dak would have been the June 1st cut. Then Trey would be starting this year. Even Jerry is not that insane. Trey may be the option for 2025 if Dak fails again In the playoffs.

This exactly what Jerry doesn't want ....a $25M market value starting QB means you have NO QB. Look the the list of QBs with $25M last season...if they made playoffs they mostly likely had a good GM and Coach (exactly like the Cowboys :lmao:)

Dak Haters want anarchy, hopium Narratives watching Jerry and Stephen LUCK their way into a QB that will have to initially equal Prescott then carry a hopefully a defense that can stop the run in the playoffs

Dak Haters are merciless :lmao2: :lmao2:

I think most of us are realistic about this young man's chances, but for those who are beating the drums that our #1 and #2 are in trouble it doesn't look good that the press is already saying Trey Lance looks inconsistent.

It's June 5th.

We're only about a month away from finding out first hand what Trey can and con not do.

One group on one side of this debate is going to thoroughly embarrass themselves unnecessarily at this point.

This thread is the result of a fan that doesn't understand the situation. Trey Lance is not competing for the QB1 job. At best, he is competing with Cooper Rush for the QB2 job. Trey will get a heavy dose of starting in the preseason. But the only way he ascends to the QB1 job is if he beats out Cooper and Dak gets injured. It could happen but it's not likely.
Trey is competing for QB1.

When he takes over is unknown.

Plenty of preseason film on Lance.

He got a lot of work in SF.

He took the QB1 job from JimmyG, who took SF to the NFC champ game.

Dak is in the way.

Your QB has only thrown 500 or more attempts in 4 of his 8 season.

The Cowboys are 33-17 in the years that Dak threw less than 500 attempts.

The less from Dak the better for the Cowboys.

Stay wrong, bro.
What?

Sounds like 24x7x60x60 to me.

Man stop.it. your obsession is worrisome.

It's Cooper Rush but we must be reading different forums, because I've seen a ton of posts since the GB loss about fan wanting Trey Lance to take over as starter. Responding to the popular fan sentiment, not the reality of the depth charts.
What the fans want doesn't make it happen. Trey has to earn what he gets like everyone else.

Trey isn’t there to be a backup.

We can find backup QBs any day.

We already have one in Rush.

We need a QB1.
Trey has not even shown he can beat out a backup yet. Forget taking over for a top 10 QB, he has to first improve from the guy who last year decidedly lost to Sam Darnold for a backup job.

When the Helmets came on Trey Lance Skinny legs buckled....and his arm strength became a knull and void

I think most of us are realistic about this young man's chances, but for those who are beating the drums that our #1 and #2 are in trouble it doesn't look good that the press is already saying Trey Lance looks inconsistent. No pads, no sacks, and the same offense he learned last year. I don't know what else he needs.

There has never been a successful QB project under Jerry Jones. Only 3 QBs have been successful as starters - Troy Aikman, Dak Prescott and Tony Romo. Troy was a gimme, the #1 overall pick and even Tom Landry admitted he would have drafted Troy if he had stayed on as coach. Tony Romo was Sean Payton's baby, and to stress the point even further that Jerry is horrible at spotting talent, Romo would have been cut if Quincy Carter hadn't failed his drug test. And then Dan Prescott who Jerry definitely didn't want because he tried his darnedest to draft another failed QB in Paxton Lynch. And the Cowboys lucked into Dak as a 13-3 rookie starter, that wasn't by choice. So who does Jerry get credit for? Names like Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson and Quincy Carter. Winners. And this same GM was the first person the 49ers called because they know how much he drools over project QBs even though he couldn't pick the right one in an open field.

But we also saw Trey Lance play for the 49ers. He was lost, completely lost. This was the 49ers. This was not Steve Young who looked horrible on the worst franchise in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Bucks. Or even Jim Plunkett failing with the then horrible New England Patriots and winning Super Bowls as the franchise QB for the Raiders years later. This is the 49ers, who have maybe the best offensive minded head coach in the NFL, and are one of the most dominant teams in the NFL the last few years even if they don't have a SB win.

Anything is possible. But if I had to put money on Trey Lance becoming a franchise QB, I would definitely go the other direction. Which is sad, because I do think there's a good chance that Dan has played his last year here, and the Cowboys have no viable replacement. We are far from the Ron Wolf GM, or Green Bay Packers, who have the next great QB always lined up.
The thing with Shanahan's system, while he is a great offensive mind, that does not mean that his QB role is not niche in what it asks and does. You don't see Shanahan's successful quarterbacks transferring out of his system to greatness either. They have their niche. Lance not fitting that is not as prohibitive as you would make it seem.

The flip side of that development coin is that MM is a great QB coach. Sure there was Rodgers but he also resurrected Gannon's career and made pro bowlers out of Grbac and Brooks. Took Dak from leading the league in interceptions to 2nd in MVP.

I don't know why you are fixating on Jerry. He is not teaching the QB.

Because in this case, Jerry picked the groceries. Don't have much faith in his past track record with QB projects.

I don’t think it’s hate I think it’s a realistic take. I’ve been saying this from jump those thinking he will go from failing in a Shanahan system to a franchise qb or even a backup are praying and hoping.

It’s disturbing to me they have protected him like some child to the point he couldn’t even get reps last year as a backup. There’s no hate. No Dak fan should fear Lance lol. He won’t determine if Dak is here next season or not.
Protected like some do dak. Very disturbing.
