the suspension will be waiting for them if and when they return

DAL tried to do this with Brent and he still had to serve his suspension when he "un-retired"

right i understand the 1 year suspension.
but what about skipping out on any additional suspension for not getting tested since he is out of the country?

Charles Haley isn't one to judge.

That guy is one of the sickest people that ever walked Valley Ranch. Those stories about Haley.........sheesh.
Haley had a mental condition , but don't let that get in your way.

no money if he retires and he'd have to repay money he likely doesn't have.
I was somewhat joking, but paying back the signing bonus is negotiable with the team. It would be in Jerry's best interest because he would not accrue time towards free agency. As it is, regardless of whether he played all season or is suspended all season, he will only have 2 years remaining on his contract after the season.

Something doesn't come off the banned list because it becomes legal. There are many legal substances that are banned as they are performance enhancing or present a h&s risk.

Weed is banned in competition by WADA for football (Im more familiar with WADA than NFL rules, but NFL generally less strict than WADA). So is alcohol.

The reason its banned is because high (or drunk) players are a danger. Serious injuries occur when a players timing is off.

Randy Gregory is "toxic," whether it's due to your guys' and gals' opinion or mine. I'm sure we can all agree.

What I don't like is that he is causing the kinds of debates amongst the very best posters here (NOT including myself in that, many of you guys bring much more than myself) on a weekly basis, here at the Zone.

I respectfully bow out and will refrain from further debating this (unless I'm replied to). I love this community too much to cause friction over Randy fricken Gregory.
Good idea don't take the bait.:dance::dance:

White playing size 6'4 258

Haley playing size 6'6 255

Randy Gregory 6'6 240

If you want an argument for why Haley was flattened, size isn't your arguement, Haley was **** faced.

Gregory is quicker than both and would have both of their hands full in a fight during their primes. A sober Haley goes berserk and rips them both to shreds, imo.
This should go in my who would would win thread lol

Gregory in early-mid 90's = non story and phenom with a whole fanbase rallying behind him. LOL.

Weed and roids were not given a **** about until the PED outings in the MLB. Exposed sports and substances as a whole, trickle down affect like a son of a gun.
Mid to early 90s. That's when celebrations where cool and all the extras where ok, and no social media. It was good bring a playa then.

Man my fam owned a shopping center and there was a space leased out to a barber shop: le Cheveaux. All the Cowboys went there in the early and mid 90s to get their hair cut. There where things going on their too

That's the real rub.
I don't think anyone should sensibly expect Gregory stops smoking weed.
He clearly prefers it to harder pills that would be required for his bipolar issues.
The guy has a legit mental condition. He probably should medically be smoking weed.

And it's quite possible the NFL adjusts it's policy. Medical exceptions should become fairly common if the drug is still even tested for.

How does weed effect those with CTE? That needs to be known.

Gregory isn't gonna be back for a good while but he may well be back eventually.
don't really care what he likes and doesn't like to do. w/o clearance and a doc note saying this is for his treatment, he shouldn't be doing it and then going BUT BUT BUT. he's put the team in a crap position and his continued pot head ways are costing him dearly.

this has been a concern since before drafting him and he's lived up to that concern. to expect him to *ever* play again is just wishful thinking.

He'd owe 500K back in signing bonus money and he's made only 1.5 in his career.
Wanna guess as to if he has 500K laying around?

no chance in hell, but to be honest, he'd be on the hook for a good portion of that 500k anyway. I just don't see Jerry doing that for 500k.
