That is a very reasonable idea.
This is exactly what Jerry should do given his past history of trying to help troubled players:
1. get Gregory to retire
2. give him a real job in one of his business like he did with the DT who had the car accident
3. give him a chance to come back if rules change or if Gregory changes.

That's the real rub.
I don't think anyone should sensibly expect Gregory stops smoking weed.
He clearly prefers it to harder pills that would be required for his bipolar issues.
The guy has a legit mental condition. He probably should medically be smoking weed.

And it's quite possible the NFL adjusts it's policy. Medical exceptions should become fairly common if the drug is still even tested for.

How does weed effect those with CTE? That needs to be known.

Gregory isn't gonna be back for a good while but he may well be back eventually.

Gregory's interviewing skills are great. That's why we took a chance on him. He knows how to sound mature and sincere.

He's just lazy and doesn't want to actually be a grown up. So yeah, I'd be done with him too.


There may be some merit to Haley's comments on 'babying' players. I'm wondering how much the Cowboys have invested research into effective methods of counseling.

Haley speaks from experience, but he's not a mental health professional.

The problem with Haley being critical there is Haley, himself, is a big part of why Jerry has these views.
He was the league's biggest problem child and quite probably the league's worst teammate.
But Jerry got a lot out of him and they won Super Bowls.

I don't think Haley is a good guy even now. I think he is very self-centered and this entire article comes from a place of Gregory wanting to fight the dude.
Haley is mad about that and lashed out at everyone including Jerry because of it.
Jerry did a lot to push Haley for the HOF.
