I don't know about comparing McNabb to Favre. Favre is the classic leader - a tough guy who inspires those around him. He seems easy to follow into battle. Like I say, I don't know what it is about McNabb. Its like there is something silly about him - like it is hard to take him serious.
Classic leader or not, he should have kept his trap shut about Walker's finances. No comment would have sufficed, imo.

What QB who is supposed to be a team leader is going to take that crap? Heck, even Bledsoe stood up to Keyshawn in the same situation.

Bob Whitfield said it the other night and I paraphrase "There was a saying my Daddy had, the dog can bark all it wants inside the fense and if you open the fense and it is still barking, you put your foot up it's ***".

Then Rich Eisen said, "who was supposed to do that with their foot up, you know?".

Whitfield: "What size does the QB wear?"

Again, I'm certainly not going to try to defend the way TO reacted to his circumstances or his conduct in Philly, but it wasn't some great situation that TO single-handedly "destroyed."

But that is so much easier and requires much less thought. Which is no wonder why so many that don't want him here rely on that narrow-minded perspective.

I agree again, adbutcher.

But you appear to forget, that is Brett's team. Literally. I firmly believe he tells management there what to do. He certainly isn't acting like an employee and that is because he has been allowed to get away with it.

Pure selfishness. He knew he might have only 1 year left and didn't want his best WR to hold out.

He could have cared less about Walker or his career, or all that other "team team team" stuff he was spouting.

If that were the case then if Brett had to say something he should have told management to stop B esing and give Walker the money.

Now don't get me wrong I could easily make an argument that Brett is the best QB to ever play. He just made a decision that I don't agree with. The same could be said about Tiki and Strahan a few years back. IMO, it is never a good idea for a player to get involved with another player’s contract negotiations. Put yourself in Jevon’s shoes, you come back because your leader wanted you to, then you get hurt. Now what? I know he is not looking at Favre the same way.

This is the most sane TO thread I've read in a long time... It's hard to think of the NFL as a job, because these guys are put on such pedestals, but that's exactly what it is for them when they're in contract disputes. So think about it like it was your job. Would you put up with your boss promising you a raise, not giving it to you, then getting trashed in the media and forgotten when you break a record??

Then would you put up with your co-worker talking about your financial comcerns/security in the media? Now, McChunky didn't do that (to my knowledge) but Favre, etc. have done it. There aren't many examples of that though, it's just not done.

Not to absolve TO of all he did wrong obviously, but he was hardly the sole reason Philly imploded, no matter what ESPN says.

Ditto and with TO gone they should go back to the superbowl, right?

Why do you think Michael Irvin baited Owens that way? Another theory is that they meant to do that. This is an intriguing drama and it is so much deeper than Owens' lack of maturity.
The more this continues and I am not a conspiracy theorist at all I'm starting to think Philly got played, once they refused to renegoitiate, he and Irvin and Drew R his agent got together and came up with a plan to get him to Dallas.

You have to admit there is something Fishy there. As this ongoing saga has continued I have Kept thinking this all looks planned, esp the whole we would win
with Brett conversation if you look at that Interveiw TO looked like he was remembering his Lines.

Some of us have been offering these arguments for a while, they were just drowned out by the anti-TO crowd. I know TO ain't exactly the safest option, but I really feel like some folks who perhaps live vicariously through the Cowboys were taking the star stomping episode too far and letting it interfere with logic.

Nevermind an actual football player's take.

We have plenty of amateur NFL types in here that know all about a lockerroom and the dynamics that exist.

john elway came out publically and said NO TO!!!

you wanna whine at his credentials next? as for "amateur nfl types" what raises you above that, may i ask?

Well, they tried in preseason to get out, remember?

Interesting. The same Elway that threatened to play baseball if he didn't get his way. Hi pot, I'm kettle.

There are other football players like Terry Glenn and Carl Banks that don't have a problem with him.

But continue on with your point, if you have one. I suspect you don't.

As for Elway, I don't carry any more respect for his stance than you apparently do for any one of those players who support Owens.

Do you enjoy making up things or do you just have a reading comprehension problem?

I have an opinion, much like yours, but I do take the time to read between the lines instead of assuming a black and white, either/or situation where everything is Owens' fault.

Nor do I scream, cry and whip myself into a foaming mouthed frenzy about his antics years ago on the star when even players on this team right now don't care about it any more.

we're not talking overall attitude. and if you gotta go WAY BACK to when he first started the NFL to run a comparison, that's just a stretch and i'd like to think even you know that.

the comparison was NFL experience that *someone* felt us *lowly fans* don't have and look - a voice of NFL saying it's ok! i'm just showing 1 to show others felt it wasn't.

For every Elway there is another player that wants him so what makes Elway the wise old seer.
