I dont believe in a league wide conspiracy at all. Sometimes you sit there and wonder how a paid ref can make such big mistakes though. And that's league wide. I don't think the idea of having full time referees is a bad idea. Having them study the game the same way players do and putting that kind of time into it. Also. I do really believe that repercussions for bad calls (PI in NO) should be met with accountability. That's just me though.

I don't disagree with you but the refs are all but set up to fail. 7 refs can't in any way, shape, or form watch 11 match-ups for fouls, plus be on the lookout for loose balls, knees down and whether balls break the plane or made the line to gain. Full-time refs wouldn't be enough. More of them would but then they start to get in the way when they're all over the field. A ref in a skybox is a good start but you also have to balance the flow/speed of game play too. No perfect solution.

Not sure if any of you watched Monday Night Football, but Ref Tony Corrente called a flag for taunting to pretty much giving the Steelers the game. Also to add, Corrente called a flag on stating the player bumped into him when in fact Corrente leaned into him as he passed.

Dallas has been hit with a bunch of bogus calls, Touchdowns that should have been, even non calls. Officials are getting overboard. What are your thoughts?

That's how the league likes it. They make every conceivable thing subject to penalty and then selectively apply those rules whenever they want. Complete control. Similar to how the government works.

The refs are pretty much overboard on everything. This begins and ends with Goodell.

LOL the NFL would love to have you as a ref, you'd fit right in. :lmao:
the refs call what they are told to call. they dotn make the rules..blame the NFLPA and the NFL league offices and the board who oversees this..a seasoned coach ie the PB coach said himself its part of the rules and called correctly..

we dont have to like it but in this case it was violation of the rule..

FACT it was subtle vbut its what rthe flag was for not the celebration kick..know the rule agree or not its what got the flag..

.if he turned to the fans behind the goal posts or his bench, no flag..
He was eyeing the team that just cut him. Is it taunting when a defender wags his finger at the opposing team's sideline after a TFL? All he did was stare them down. The ref then hip checked him and threw the flag immediately. It was a bull**** call.

THE. FIX. IS. IN.

Moderator Edit/Full Article

One of the most prominent stories of the 2021 NFL season so far is the league’s new points of emphasis regarding taunting. The rules are not new for the 2021 season, but when the NFL decides to make a rule a point of emphasis, it may as well be, because officials are generally going to call (or overcall) whatever those points of emphasis might be. Per NFLPenalties.com, there were 10 total taunting penalties in the 2020 season. There have already been 10 taunting penalties in the 2021 season, and Week 2 isn’t even over yet. Last season, taunting was called 0.04 times per game; this season so far, it’s been called 0.32 times per game. When you have a penalty called nearly 10 times more often from one season to the next, people are going to sit up and take notice.

In a recent post on the NFLPA’s website, NFLPA President and Cleveland Browns center J.C. Tretter said flat-out that the players did not want these new points of emphasis, no matter what others in the league might say.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding rule changes and new points of emphasis for the upcoming season, with recent comments by ownership and Rich McKay raising some questions among our players about what really goes on. So this month, I wanted to take the time to explain the competition committee and the NFLPA’s role.

I call BS on that, he threw the flag after he bumped him.
Pitts is a ref favorite from a long time . There is definitely favoritism on the part of individual refs to certain teams.

Taunting definition: “Any flagrant acts or remarks that deride, mock, bait, or embarrass an opponent.”

What was flagrant about what he did?

Of course this had nothing to do with the call made. He only backed up into Marsh.

The refs in that game should have their stripes removed. They allowed Pitt to treat Fields like a tackling dummy. He was getting abused in a way that would've easily drawn flags vs almost any other QB.

What I would like to know is how come TAUNTING is a priority and flagrant hits on QBs ignored?

Guess because its the soupe du jour coming down from the NFL office.....i have a problem with the taunting rules in the fact that they are not consistently enforced; it all depends on the refs and their prejudices. Where even looking at someone side eye may flag you for taunting. Just ridiculous . And as you saw the video above, the ref should have penalized himself for cross checking.

Taunting is when you wave your arms and say something to arouse a response from another person. Just looking at someone from a distance is just glaring or staring.....

If glaring or staring at your opponent is taunting then a flag should be thrown every down.

How about when you're walking towards their bench as you do it? I mean, come on. Just because you don't like the rule doesn't mean you risk your team's win to push the limits in that situation. Dumb decision.

They interviewed Corrente after the game.

He said the player after the play did some kind of roundhouse kick. Then stopped and stared at the Pittsbugh bench. He didn't say anything. But the stare was enough for the taunting flag.
Maybe they should blind fold the players and make them play flag football instead.
