Yes all true but when you’ve admitted you’d of fired a GM with your record and refuse to step down cause you’re the owner then ultimately are not doing everything within your power to win.

And why despite the fact he wants to win as badly or more than any of us it’s not enough to bring someone else in and step aside.
Doesnt mean he doesnt want to win. Just means he believes in himself, cant admit he sucks at it, and actually does suck at it.

Suck...suck...suck, then how does one not notice this:

"Head coach Mike McCarthy is taking the play-calling reins for the first time in his Dallas tenure, a development I strongly support. Don't get it twisted: I think Kellen Moore -- now the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers -- is a fine young mind. But clearly, McCarthy and Moore weren't always on the same page." "Now it's McCarthy's offense from stem to stern. No confusion, no conflicting strategies. And seeing how I believe McCarthy is a true quarterback/offensive guru, I really think Dak and the 'Boys will reap the benefits of this change. Not to mention, Dallas acquired WR Brandin Cooks via trade back in March. Brilliant move."

What's this? A refreshingly candid take on Prescott? What a sight for sore eyes. It shouldn't be understated that McCarthy and Moore seldom were on the same page. That couldn't have been easy on Prescott. With Moore gone, Prescott should have a clear understanding of what's expected of him in the pocket.

Cooks enters with six 1,000-yard seasons under his belt and the attention he'll command from defenses will only create more opportunities for CeeDee Lamb, who actually made Schein's list this time last year.
Additionally, Michael Gallup is finally healthy two years removed from ACL surgery, and 2022 third-round pick Jalen Tolbert, who played sparingly as a rookie, is considered the team's most improved player this offseason.

When considering all of these variables, Schein has high expectations for Prescott. In fact, the columnist believes the two-time Pro Bowler will "throw for 4,500 yards and 40 touchdowns while reducing his interception total by at least five."

Yep. He only wants to win his way. Which ultimately isn’t badly enough.
How would you know? If he wins say 2 more. It looks like you would be wrong. They are right at the door right now. Time will tell if they get through the door and take it all the way. They built the team their way. They have the foundation in place.

After scrolling through most of these posts, I'm of the opinion that
DallasEast did a very strong job of providing reality to all of this.

Appreciate it, Dallas East.

Serious question: If it is 'real laughable' should Jones win the next two Super Bowls, what reaction should anyone have for him winning none of the past 27 championships? What reaction would be the exact opposite of 'real laughable'?
Maybe a realistic view on how difficult it is to win a championship of a 32 team league and a gauntlet of a 17 game season with modern day gladiators beating each other up.

Sure, he believes in himself. But he’s already admitted he’d of fired a GM with his results,

That is both colorful and an avoidance of a simple question.

And when those results come in we can determine our conclusions.

...and he did not apply that rationalization to himself. He said it in order to elicit empathy of his position as a self-appointed general manager.

Regardless however our interpretation of its meaning or his intentions , it was said and we can use it against him.

I don’t believe he’s not aware he could hire a GM who could be more effective but he simply isn’t willing to step aside. Even at age 80 he isn’t willing to name his son GM.

It’s beyond anything I’ve ever seen in sports.
It’s embarrassing laughable. And why he’s obviously placing his own egotistical selfish ambitions ahead of what’s best for Cowboys Football.

Whatever you said. It certainly wasn't simple.
I said? These are your words:
It will be real laughable if he wins the next 2 in a row.
Your established position is that the quality and talent of the current team has the opportunity of winning championships in the next two years. Your stating that it will be 'real laughable' is that the triumph of the team, assembled under Jerry Jones as general manager, will be a vindication of the criticism directed at him for decades.

You framed your assumption for what might happen in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Here's the thing. Jerry Jones has been the general manager since 1989. He was the general manager when the franchise won three Super Bowls. He is also the same general manager who oversaw the franchise not winning and/or competing in an NFL championship OR reaching an NFC Championship game OR winning an NFC Divisional game.

The vast majority of NFL general managers.

Scratch that.

The vast majority of general managers or their equivalents in every professional team sport.

Scratch that. Athletic directors are the equivalent of general managers at the collegiate level.

The vast majority of general managers and athletic directors in both professional team sports and universities around the world are normally either fired or they resign within several years of not achieving some level of championship success.

So. If it is 'real laughable' for Jones' critics to witness him achieve ultimate success this season and in 2024, what should be the reaction of his critics for not achieving the same thing over the past 27 seasons?

I got this.

It is, and has been, extremely sobering, that he has never made the typical business decision, in both professional and collegiate team sports, of hiring a competent, qualified football executive as a general manager. Someone, who could introduce a new vision and direction for coaching and player acquisitions, to accomplish the goal he wants.

Zero hires. No hire who lasted several years. No hire who lasted several months. No hire who lasted several days. Hours. Minutes. Seconds. Zlitch.

I hope Jones oversees a Super Bowl win this year. Next year. Every year, no matter how impractical that is. As an NFL owner, he deserves it. We, the fans, deserve it. However, that possible success is just that if-and-until it becomes a reality. Until that happens it's just a possibility, holding no more importance or relevance than any of the last 27 Super Bowls victories he did not oversee as self-appointed for life GM of the Dallas Cowboys franchise.

You can strap him into a chair ten feet away from a billboard featuring his words. It would not make any difference to him. A non-narcissist? Most likely. Him? uh uh.

I don’t believe he’s not aware he could hire a GM who could be more effective but he simply isn’t willing to step aside. Even at age 80 he isn’t willing to name his son GM.
One thing I am 99.99% convinced of is that Jerry Jones has known he is not the qualified general manager, he wants everyone to believe, since the Dave Campo era. He has been shuffling around his front office staffing ever since, continually trying to get the right people around him, in order to finally crow if-and-when he wins again that he did it his way. Plus, narcissists do not allow family to supersede them publicly also.

It’s beyond anything I’ve ever seen in sports.
It’s embarrassing laughable. And why he’s obviously placing his own egotistical selfish ambitions ahead of what’s best for Cowboys Football.
I agree 100%.

Thank God Jerry bought the Cowboys when he did.

Yep, that's what I said. I'll throw in that would be very difficult for any gm to have the team in the good position that they are in today. Building off of the last 2 season with a good future on the horizon. At least that 's what it looks like.
