Jerry didn't have a single thing given to him.
Come and listen to a story about a man named Jerry,
A poor mountaineer, drinking all his family's sherry.
And then one day he was shooting at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubbling crude.

Oil that is. Black gold. Texas tea.

Well, the first thing you know ole' Jerry's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said “Jerry, get the bleepity-bleep outta our hair!”
Said “Texas is the place y'alls butts ought to be!”
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Big D.

North Texas, that is. Backyard pools. Dallas Stars.

Well now its time to say goodbye to Jerry and all his kin,
And they would like to thank y'all for putting up with their shenanigans.
You’re all invited back again for more audacity,
And have another heaping helping of their stupidity.

Hillybilly that is. Set a spell. Take your shoes off.

Y’all come back now, y’hear?”

I’m always taken aback by Cowboy fans who support this ownership.

I often ask opposing fans would you trade owners with us and I have yet to have one who currently would.

I’m left with this segment of Cowboy fans who do support our ownership are generally the type of overly Homerish fan that defends everything under the Star.

And typically blow them off after making an attempt to illustrate the gross oversight. It becomes much like trying to bring critical thinking and sound analysis and evaluation to a cheerleader. They just want to cheer their team on,
This shows very little of the sacrifice and personal pain many dealt with to grow their love of the sport as well as it's respect...not just name tossing or ring tapping inspite of true love of the game and it's players. You toss disrespect around as if you have an endless supply and every one else is ignorant and without a sense of commitment that requires a true fan and his love to water and truly grow the sport. Throwing around lofty standards doesn't do the job of just being a fan and taking to heart what is accomplished. It's not really supportive when the fan goes South and is only a 'fan' in ridicule and accusation for failure. No, it isn't all in life, a failure.

Now don't YOU say you can't understand and take another cop out as you throw yet another unfounded negative my direction. I'm a simple, but honest person...and a Cowboys fan. I don't substitute love of my team for disrespect and labels that only a true in myth of win it all or just quit! American democratic process is already at work on Jerry's team, and so is some pretty good football now, as well!!

You guys are always working on some angle for a myth. My Cowboys and it's owner already has his OWN Holywood and doesn't need a running series of make believe.

Just check in with his Accountant and NFL records. No, losses are only a part of the ledger...the smaller side.

Oh, as to talent on the field, ask each and every opponent at the final gun, if he didn't have to pay the price to be on the carpet with those Cowboys. Doubt that?

Just between you and me, care to put a $100 on a bet that the Cowboys make it to the Divisional level of playoffs, THIS Year? Reality can keep the money on the bet....

but if that was merely an insult of me...well let's go!

Dang it. First it's @MountaineerCowboy with this betting nonsense. Now it's spreading. lol. Goodnight.

We can have a tag bet...I was always told that one had to stand up for what he believed in, or adjust how he described his own successes. I stood up to the concept of disrespect that lost sight of one's own conscience for good intent. That's the way this ex-soldier was raised and taught. I'm not overly impressed when I am able to figure something out, and don't take kindly to another that it instead becomes authorization to be indignant about - instead.

Hey, my Cowboys and Jerry are fine...and I don't need a pair of glasses or perspective to appreciate them both. I'm a fan.

These are sitting on his plate right now as we talk...

Lamb $25M/yr
Diggs $19.4M/yr
Parsons $35M/yr
Prescott $48.75M/yr

There just could be legitimate reasons that 'ol Jerry doesn't think directly as we fans do right now...
In this case, its not a matter of how much money he's going to spend, he's going to spend it. This is true for all the owners.

The real challenge is deciding who should get the money. He has to decide which combination of decisions will potentially create the strongest teams going forward. His record when it comes to cap decisions is erratic. He's made some wise choices, he's made some that are questionable.

Again, these decisions aren't going to save him any money, nor will it force him to spend more than any other owner must spend. This is true even if he chooses to defer soem of the cap space for a future year. Eventually, the money will be spent.

Sign those very players and make Malik Smith equal to a Mean Joe Greene, Bob Lilly, or a John Randle...and I'll show you the next Super Bowl Dallas Cowboys.

The use of salaries in negotiation is very relevant because Stephen has the means to get all of that done and over the next two years. That's no secret now....and Randle was even a walk on from Texas A&I.

Averaging 12 wins a season over 3 years isn't sucking.
If you think Jerry is a great GM thats fine. Maybe you should just stop responding to my critics of the team. Im really not interested in conversing with angry homers that cant handle realistic football talk. Your as bad as the haters that hate everything.

Jerry has gotten better as a GM because he has finally gotten competent football people around him. Going from Garrett to MM has made a big difference. Same with Quinn.

Yet over the last 30 years he sucks.

Sure, he believes in himself. But he’s already admitted he’d of fired a GM with his results,
He did. But you know Jerry thinks that he has learned from his mistakes. And not firing himself doesn't mean he doesnt want to win. Just means he's stubborn.

I get it and agree but you’re missing my bigger point . Totally agree he wants to win. But only wants to win his way. And not bad enough to get out of the way . Yes, it’s stubborn .

But ultimately he isn’t placing winning as the highest priority . Instead he’s placing his own personal passions and egos ahead of what is best for Cowboys Football.

I stood under that tree that Landry was convinced Allen would hide his 300lb scout in.
Most younger fans here probably don’t know that story. It was a different world in the NFL in those days. Spying on your opponents in those days was low tech art.

And no one ever got in Landry’s head like George Allen did. I can still see him licking the palms of his hands, rubbing them together and grinning that toothy grin over at Landry.

Even though there was no way that guy was climbing that tree, Landry could not be convinced otherwise. Really funny.

I don't buy that. I think he feels if he continues building an organization "the right way" (his way) everything will eventually come together and we'll have another dynasty.

Classic story .. good stuff CC. And all true.

Yea, when they built Valley Ranch trees completely surrounded the practice field and they placed 8 ft fences around it with black tarp.

My best friend lives a couple blocks away and we’d try to peek thru the fences wherever there was a slim tear or break in the tarp covering the fences . Couldn’t make out too much most of the time except they were out there and if anyone was in the tower.

Wow. It’s just an opinion. This doesn’t have national security or world economic implications, lol. Anyone is welcome to disagree and I’m fine with that. The last thing this forum needs is everyone agreeing about everything.
Not agreeing or disagreeing. I just think it is pointless to speculate about Jerry’s motivations.

Do I believe he wants to win? Yes.

Has he been able to accomplish that since the 1995 season? No.

A lot of other owners have also failed to win a Super Bowl during that time frame.

Cowboys
Commanders
Bills
Dolphins
Jets
Browns
Bengals
Lions
Bears
Vikings
Jaguars
Titans
Texans
Panthers
Falcons
49ers
Cardinals
Chargers
Raiders

19 total teams have all been unable to win a Super Bowl during that time frame, which is a majority of the teams. Should we analyze the motivations of those other 18 teams also?

Honestly, bashing Jerry bores me. It’s like picking on a first grader during recess in grade school. It’s too easy, and doesn’t make the person taking shots look any better for giving Jerry a beat down. We all know he’s failed. And…??

A more comepelling list is the teams who haven’t had a Super Bowl appearance in same span . In NFC only Dallas, Detroit, Minn and Wash. In AFC only Buff, Hou, Mia and NYJ.

That calculates to 24 of 32 or 75% of NFL have been to a Super Bowl since our last appearance .

The bottomline is our once proud and classy ran franchise under our former regime is no longer championship caliber.

While these other teams in our small peer group of futility this era should be ashamed they haven’t any more success in playoffs with a more normal ownership and front office , we can certainly conclude that most of the league has at least figured it out . And they most likely have a better shot continuing to find a front office that can eventually figure it out to a SB.

Continuing to attempt to hold our dysfunctional ownership accountable may fall on deaf ears and beyond causing devastating financial hardship which isn’t likely any longer with all of the new revenue generating platforms in place its painfully obvious there isn’t much we can collectively impact anymore.

I waved my white flag years ago but we should never refrain from calling out the core causes to our lack of success this era . It always amazes me why there are fans who feel the need to defend or deflect our owners actions this era and the results which certainly don’t measure up to our history of success nor the better franchises this era.

I understand each season is a new beginning with renewed optimism for a successful season and the enjoyment of rebuilding hoping for more success which it’s not my intent to rain on that parade but after each year the trend continues I see no benefit in not discussing and revealing the cumulative record.

I can’t speak for everyone but I’d certainly rather not be in the group we have been in this era and will continue to bring attention to the lack of success and one common link throughout regardless how boring it might be.
