I'm getting mean tweets. Forum threads. What's next? Airplane banners??

As a funny, Terrence as T-Will Tuesdays on twitter. All of his fan and he has a lot of them, tweets him pics and stuff supporting him. He was retweeting so many of them, one of his teammates, said he was going to block him. lol

Waiting for the body catcher posts....

I think TWill is a great compliment to Dez with Street getting an increased role. Beasley will still be great in his role.
No need to be concerned 2 years down the SB road. The FO has shown to be scouting and getting the right players to improve the team and to replace any players that leave. Also have retained players they need to.
Far more right decisions than wrong decisions these past years.

All true but, there is much more worry about who will be throwing to whomever is left to throw to
after the next two years. Romo at 38 most likely will be looking for a retirement home on a golf
course by then. QB is much more needed by then than no. 2 WR's.

Terrence Williams is a name that keeps popping up in the positive collumn in camp reports going all the way back to OTA's. He seems like a player that has become worthy of more responsibility, however within Dallas's offense, he is not likely to get much of an increase in touchs, if he gets an increase at all. " Too many pigs for the tits" as Abe Lincoln liked to say.

In two years when his contract is up, we are likely going to have to churn that spot. Its always possible that he takes a team friendly deal and remains, but its not something I just assume will happen.

I know it takes a bit more forsight then some people like to give considering its two years down the line and alot can happen, and alot of people just want to focus on the now.

However I like varied discussions. Given our offensive dynamic and the fact that Bryant will see be a bell cow, what should we expect from that #2 WR spot if Williams does indeed walk after his rookie deal. What level of wideout, be it a niche WR or a potential bell cow ( 3rd round guy VS a 4th round guy) would we need?. What dominant skill, be it speed, possession or route running .

Is Terrance Williams a template for what we want at the position while we have Bryant. Or if he walks should we look for a different type of WR

Can we worry about this in say, 2 years?

Yes, Williams is the exact type of WR that is best suited to be the #2 here. He is big and fast. His job most of the time if to run clear out routes which includes running deep.

Street is looking good but I don't think he is as fast as Willliams. Street seems like he would be a good backup to Dez and could run the same types of routes as Dez but as a #2 Williams speed is probably better for running the clear out routes. They do like to use Street when they're running the ball because he is a very good blocker. Street played more snaps last year than most fans realized. I think he averaged around 15 snaps per game.

T Will is a good #2 receiver, and will probably never be anybody's #1. Maybe he stays here long term, maybe he leaves for a contract, but make no mistake, Dez taking all the coverage is the reason T Will gets to be an eight touchdown receiver.

problem for later.

I personally love that every year we have to really look at players and make a hard decision on whether to pay them a high rate vs. scrubs we have to decide on whether they fit on the team or not.

Absolutely!
Get stronger defense.
Shore up running game.

Pick up where we left off last year!!

Honestly with the way we have built this roster by that time we could probably take a top flight WR in the 1st round because we may have that deep of a roster. Where the 1st rd draft pick by that time can be a luxury.. At least thats how I see it looking ahead...

Thread has nothing to do about "getting rid" of him. Its about what we should be looking for at the position if and when he leaves via FA

I'm reading posts about using him for trade bait. That doesnt sound like anything pertaining to FA to me.

Agree that TWill is very good at running the clear out routes and he even better adjusting to Romo's ad libs. But he will not be the true #2 receiver. Never mind the Witten factor, just looking at receivers, Beasley is creating a bigger role for himself and not just from the slot.

I just hope that Cowboys do not just allow Williams to walk when he becomes a free agent. If Williams is not in Dallas' long term plans then trade him the year before his contract expires. Just letting a valuable asset go for nothing always frustrates me.

Honestly it would not be fiscially responsible to resign Terrence Williams. Someone will pay him low end #1 or high end #2 money to play else where. Worse case scenario for him, is he gets paid well for one year to prove he is a #1 elsewhere. I like the player, but no I think the team should keep Dez as the #1 and Beasley as the slot, and draft a WR every few years in the 2nd or 3rd to play on the outside.

He has 2 more years on his deal lets see where he is at that time

Just saying lets see what the land scape looks like at that time.

That would be a mistake. Realistically speaking we do need to put ourselves in a position that allows us to make the best move for the team and that likely means drafting a WR next year unless Devin Street shows he's capable of starting. Same goes Randle, I don't see Dallas paying him either in 2 years, so we need an alternative to turn to, just like we did when Demarco Murray became a free agent. This is something that needs to be on the teams radar after this offseason no matter how they perform.

I don't necessarily agree with that. I think Beasley is an option, for sure, but as a more targeted player. I think when plays break down, T-Will as a bigger target plays that role better.
Another player I see is Laurent Robinson who was very similar to Williams right now when the plays broke down and Romo finding them mainly uncontested most of the time for big catches or TDs.

It depends on how you define 2nd receiver.

Is it who has the most catches or who plays the most snaps or who has the most yards.?
