By high character, are you referring to Allen's two DUIs when he was a Chief?

He made a few mistakes - like we all do. He donates a lot of time and money to veterans and is known to be a stand-up individual on not only his teams but the communities.

may he without sin cast the first stone.....

the RKG people haven't exactly gotten us over the top, so give me a few in the trenches with some attitude

Who knows if this is correct as he is the only one tweeting it so far

Henry Melton made it to Dallas, where he'll visit with the #Cowboys this week. Was negotiating with #Seahawks last night, others in the mix

Well you have to start somewhere. I am glad we let Hatcher roll - I don't think he was much of a mentor anyway. Ware is past his prime and I will miss him but we needed to let him go. Get a vet like Allen if he is willing to play for a realistic amount of money would give us a bit of an impact player that could be a good mentor for the young kids.

If Marinelli wants Melton then I am not going to argue but he seams like a douchebag to me and I hope we steer clear. Tank Johnson 2.0.

I think there is some pretty big inflation of how bad Melton's character is. It is not perfect, but I do not get the same vibe from him as we knew we were getting in Tank Johnson, who ran in some bad crowds, some with gang affiliations.

Then why do you keep casting them at Melton when you don't know him? Take your own advice.

Terrific. And, for what it is worth, I have never driven drunk, so the whole "casting stones" reference is nonsense.

I still wouldn't call him a high character guy. Even if he has donated money to causes.

And besides, you're telling me there are people who haven't bitten a bartender? Talk about not living life to the fullest.

Look people, nobody is saying that he is a bad guy or even a db. What is being said is that he has some question marks that he needs to address before he SHOULD be given a long term deal that he deserves. Without those questions he is worth 7-8 mil per season but a smart team would make sure he puts those things behind him before he gets paid.

I keep hearing that we can't get any worse on defense than last year.

Just because we were dead last does not mean that we can't get worse. There is no magical bottom that stops a team from getting worse.

All I know is that this team had 34 sacks last season, and half of those just walked out the door.

2013 sack totals:

Hatcher—11

Ware—6

Selvie—7

Wilber—2

Carter—2

Scandrick—2

Holloman—2

Brown – 1

Wynn—1

We would have had at least 68 more sacks if Tyrone Crawford and Ben Bass were able to play.

Archer backed it up. Melton back in Dallas but still in negotiations with other teams.

Ben Bass is the wild card. There's really no way to gauge how much more effective everyone else will be once he's on the field.

Casting stones is not only for drinking and driving.....sins in general. I hear what you are saying though. I think, personally, he is a solid guy that made some mistakes but plays hard, is productive and does a lot for the community.
