According to reports, Marinelli was already acting as co-coordinator this year, running meetings, etc.

So if we are in such a hurry to blame and fire Kiffin despite all the injuries and lack of 4-3 personnel, then maybe Marinelli is just as incompetent. In which case, we should be happy to let him leave.

Or maybe we should avoid being theBrowns and give the staff another year while we give them an adequate FS, healthy LBs, and at least two new DL-men with ability.

Dunno, seems pretty competent:

CHI D under Marinelli:

2010: Points allowed (4th), Yards allowed (9th), Turnovers forced (3rd), Pro Bowl defenders (3) (Peppers, Briggs, Urlacher)
2011: Points allowed (14th), Yards allowed (17th), Turnovers forced (5th), Pro Bowl defenders (4) (Peppers, Tillman, Briggs, Urlacher)
2012: Points allowed (3rd), Yards allowed (5th), Turnovers forced (1st), Pro Bowl defenders (4) (Peppers, Melton, Tillman, Jennings)

Amicable retirement? At first read it sounds like Jerry Jones trying to save money so he doesn't have to fire Kiffin and buy out his contract. If I were Kiffin, I'd say, "Okay, I'll retire and let you pat me on the back and talk about my great career in the press conference. But for me to do that, in order for you to spin this your way, you will have to pay me 50% more than what my salary would cost you. Otherwise, just fire me and pay me."

Now we can add 2013: Points allowed (26th) Yards allowed (32nd)2nd half points allowed (32nd)

Exactly. The guy didn't forget how to coach last spring. He has a track record.

Rumos are Callahan is jetting too.. Funny how no body is mentioning that Callahan's 'play calling' and work on the OL had Murray running like a beast and we went from 36 sacks too years in a row with Garrett as play caller to top 5 in the league in sacks allowed. He just takes all the blame.

I can't wait till karma finally hits Garrett in the head....

The Zone Blocking Scheme didn't work last year but it was very good this year. Assistant OL coach Frank Pollack was not on the team last year but was on the team this year. Coincidence?

Better player in Fredbeard over Costa meant a serious upgrade in play.

Sure is talking a long time to get this retirement package in place. If Jones doesn't hurry up, Kiffen will turn 100

My friend sent me a text the other day that it was reported by Adam Schefter that Monte Kiffin actually died during the Green Bay game and that Jason and Jerry have actually been pulling a weekend at Bernies

Boy, I would LOVE to see if someone with the artistic edge could throw that picture together.....Kiffins face on Bernie and the other two Jason and Jerry!!!
PLEASE SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE AND POST IT

Sometimes it is the sum of all parts that make things work. Don't mess with success on the offensive line. It is like baking Christmas cookies...Just add a little more sugar after you sample the batter but don't change much as it was almost how you want it. Plus you need to save a few picks for the horrible defensive line. I like Pollack, he may be worth more than some of our high priced players. Let that man continue.

Let me handle his retirement package. "ok Monte you were here one year and your one year contract is up. We don't need your services any longer "

So, why was this? Was Monte taking naps?

And why is it this is the second year in a row where we hear about a positional assistant running meetings? Supposedly Eberflus was doing this because Ryan wasn't. Does the trainee head coach not have control over the defensive staff?

I think Jerry brings the big guns (JG, Monte &Callahan) into the meeting rooms every day and after a 20 minute chat it is mandatory nap time Jerry included. Now this is just a rumor.

From FootballOutsiders 2013 season preview.

In Dallas, Kiffin will be taking personnel that spent the last several seasons in a 3-4 schemes with defensive backs playing predominantly man coverage, and moving those players to his preferred four-man fronts with zone coverages. There will be multiplicity, but generally speaking, when you go out of your way to simplify a scheme, and you don’t add talent, and you’re switching people around, bad things happen.

Football People saw this defensive disaster coming. It's not Kiffin's problem that we consistently change philosophies. We haven't won because we were running Parcells 2-Gap, or Phillips 3-4, or Rob's exotic 3-4, or Rob's dumbed-down 3-4, or the Tampa 2. We haven't won because the players executing those defensive schemes have been top heavy but overall mediocre.

Amazing how much better of a coach Josh McDaniels is with Brady as opposed to Tim Tebow. Talent matters.

Yeah, talent matters. But so does coaching. Jerry should have kept Ryan looking back on things.

Looking at how he's doing with NO, and the fact that our defense was worse without him, hard to argue with that.
