The Zone Blocking Scheme didn't work last year but it was very good this year. Assistant OL coach Frank Pollack was not on the team last year but was on the team this year. Coincidence?

The OL got better the last quarter of 2012. But they really got better this year. Players and/or coaching???

It's hard to put into words how bad Jerry is going to look if Rob Ryan and the Saints get to the Super Bowl.

For me, although not a Rob Ryan fan especially, I have no envy for any past Cowboys coaches that have success after Silver & blue. Just looking to see some measure of change regarding the teams shortcomings. As for Jerry...he will bs his way out of the question you pose to him. And it won't make any sense and he will just keep smiling because he don't care.

You can blame injuries or you can understand every team has this problem and thus builds depth at each position. The 2013 defensive statistics have been recoded and are sewer hole bad Kristen. :D But I like you're avatar

To be fair, we had to use 19 different DL this year. Nobody had that problem. We had, what, 7 defensive players on IR. Seattle had 1.

In 16 games the defense looked good in a handful of those. I am fair, Kiffin's contract is up why would we renew with him. 2013 was more than a disaster. 2013 was a Tsunami of a year for this pathetic defense. Rod can go too. getting a pick from Tampa would be sunshine, pure sunshine for the Cowboys.

I don't blame the coaches for what happened but also will not be sad to see them go. I thought Ryan deserved another year and if he had to go, so does Kiffin.

Time for new blood whether it is Marinelli or some younger DC with a bit of experience. If we deal with the same injuries next season, won't matter who the coach is. We can't catch a break for two years now on defense :(

You make a good point about Jerry and his attitude. I am just a bit tired of Jerry giving himself a free pass, and would like it to be just a bit more difficult for him when he goes to pick it up at the window.

Actually, I'm not really that concerned about the coaching. If he gets us the players we need for a decent pass rush, we'll have a better defense regardless of who the DC might be, IMO.

Better player in Fredbeard over Costa meant a serious upgrade in play.

Yes, Fred was a big upgrade and Leary is better than any Guard they've had in several years; however, they also managed to get quality play from Bern and Free. Partially by due to technique changes and primarily in Free's case a change in the details of the scheme that covered his weaknesses.

Both. Like it always is.

Replacing Wade Phillips' kid with Frank Pollack who learned the zone scheme from Alex Gibbs had a real impact.

Frederick was an immense upgrade from Costa, certainly. But the fact Bernadeau now appears serviceable is a testament to the coaching aspect.

Because Callahan got him and
Because Garrett was calling plays last year... Garrett doesn't know jack about zone blocking which is why he went with Houck.

Who do you abandoned the draw play for the sweep that Murray was successful in. Even our most successful passing routes were one's we never ran until this year, including the 5 WR set and drag route to Dez, as well as attacking the seams more. Even play action went up from last in the league.

Coincidence?

Hell, the excuse of the Garrett homers was Dez was too dumb before and we couldn't run, that's why we didn't use play action.

And we got Frederik, cause Jerry overruled this clown who was expecting Floyd.

They seemed to get more creative after Garrett started "relaying" the plays to Romo.

Sure they did... They abandoned the run totally when they had no need too.. But yeah, that was Romo audibility out of the run even when Orton was QB. And the game winning TD by Romo to Murray... As well as the blown double coverage on TWill where Romo kept the play alive, all scripted by JG.

Our most successful plays again, the sweep to Murray which has nothing to do with Garrett and the 5 WR set. I won't even give you seams because Garrett never did it. And we were last with Garrett in terms of play action.

He's garbage. Hell, the Eagles defense made it easy for Them and they still blew it.

this is all great but remember...keep your eye on ball...these yearly coaching changes are more about Jerry diverting attention from the horrific job he is doing as GM.
