He may fall into the Eagles lap. They might not have to trade up.

Don't think he'll drop to number 20 but he may fall close enough that they won't have to give up too much. You may be right Don Corleone...

Looks like we could be playing Mariota for at least the next 2-3 years. Multiple reports so far.

I personally hope so, as I think he's a bit overrated. And I think they'd be doing Nick Foles a disservice by giving up on him so soon.

Not saying it's going to happen, This could all be here say. But, where there's smoke, there's usually fire, and this actually makes sense with how much Chip Kelly has praised Mariota over the past couple years.

Asked source about #Eagles' trying to get Mariota. Source said, "Try? There is no try. There is only do." Source then levitated an X-Wing.

Eagles plotting to move up and get Mariota? I'd consider 3 high picks and Lesean. But biggest issue remains: CBs!! http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2015/01/eagles_are_going_to_try_to_move_up_for_oregon_quar.html…

Match made in heaven. Chip Kelly looking to move up in draft to get Mariota. Good idea, tough task. #Eagles @theScore http://thesco.re/1zukZie

they have been talking about this since day their season ended. This is old story and highly unlikely. To move from #20 to #1 or #2 will take so many 1st round draft picks (maybe three first rounders and player) that it would need to be a hershal walker type offer. Plus this assumes that top teams in draft are willing to pass on Mariota which is also highly unlikely seeing that franchise QB = playoff success. Let the eagles and their fans talk themselves to sleep on issue and then on draft day when Tampa or another team drafts him....do yourself favor and tune in 94.1 in philly to listen to end of their world.

Will they know that for sure prior to the draft? These kinds of big deals don't tend to happen on draft day. They usually occur days to weeks before the draft.

Since Chip Kelly has arrived the Eagles have had one of the best offenses in football.

Top 5 this year with Mark Freaking Sanchez starting 6 out of 10 games. Foles was an INT machine to start the year too and can't stay healthy, which is why they are even contemplating doing this in the first place.

I think Mariota will work out better with Chip for the Eagles than RG3 did with Washington - just look how RG3 did when he had a real offensive coach in Shanny. Just gotta hope they get completely milked on draft picks in compensation (and no, McCoy will not be part of the deal, he is owed $10M next year, no bottom feeding team wants to take that on for a 26 yr old RB when they likely have much bigger problems).

In order for Mariota to be effective, he'll have to sit for three years like Rodgers did. If they get him, then throw him to the wolves, he's going to be another RGIII.

They were top 5 by NFL standards, but only ranked 15th by the Aikman Efficiency Ratings.

As long as they trade a king's ransom for it, I'm fine with it. Putting all of your hopes on set of knees is dumb.

Did it get them into the playoffs?

It did last year, with a team that was 4-12 the year before.

Came pretty close this year, but their defense folded down the stretch when their CBs got exposed.

Shanahan got Griffin killed running a college offense Griffin's rookie year, and when Shanahan wised up, stopped featuring the zone read and tried to get Griff to throw the ball from the pocket, the Washington offense dried up.

Their defense folded because their offense left them on the field the whole game.

The Eagles offense was pretty mediocre last year. Their points per game were buffeted by exceptional special teams play and defensive scores early in the year. A lot of that of curse was due to mediocre QB play.

Mariota looks like a pretty good QB to me. Chip has all the info on him
he could possibly need. This is a team game but it's central to the QB.
TB won't do it for two first and a second.

Ohio State showed how Mariota can be stopped. Defenses have to be tough and fast. NFL defense are much tougher and faster than Oregon State and Washington.

Mariota has to be able to read defenses and throw from the pocket accurately. If he can do that, then his mobility will make him that much more dangerous. But we don't know if he can do that, because he's never had to do it.

Mariota >>>Foles>>>>>>>>>Sanchez in that system.

Even though I firmly believe trading 3 1st round picks will always hurt your franchise in the long run, I'd still rather not have to try and defend that offense with a QB who is actually capable of running it.

Please do! It will only help us down the road. He IS NOT a franchise QB.

OOOHHH yeah offer up a RG3 like offer and they will be a door mat in 2 seasons maybe even for the Commanders. Has anyone learned you do not leverage your future on one guy whether its 2 picks or 6 picks, especially a rook.

Id trade anywhere from 2-6 picks for Luck
