A rookie coming off major need surgery. I am sure he will dominate. Sean Lee couldn't do it in his rookie year under better circumstances. If his knee is 100%, he would be playing. I seen him play in college. The pro game requires some adjustment due to the speed of the game and more strength is needed. Smith has not played in the pros yet and it will be a tough adjustment . Smith playing will take some time before he catches up
physically and mentally.

You havent been keeping up then by you comments. the knee is 100% has nothing to do with his injury right now. The problem has been to get his nerve to regenerate and then start firing. Of course there is an adjustment to the pro game, but you make it sound like he is years away from establishing him self in the NFL. This is not your average player we are talking about here. he is the kind of player that if he can get on the field can make an impact sooner than later. How long did it take Zak and Zeke to fit in, to the big adjustment of the NFL game compared to College? Exactly, sometimes adjustments to the pro game are over blown for some players.

If (and it's a big IF) Jaylon becomes the player he looked like he would become before his injury, it's not impossible that we came away from this draft with arguably the top three players in 2016.

Someone should get a raise.

Top three? How about IF Smith becomes what he was meant to be, throw in the success of Brown, Collins, and high potential players still waiting for their chance in Jackson, Frazier, and Tapper....dude this draft could very well go down as the best draft in Team History.

I believe this means we can expect as close to full recovery as might be possible.

As far as him playing this year, perhaps a few special teams snaps, it would be great if he made a play on special teams during the playoffs,

So basically we start off next season with a guy that was probably a top five this past draft had he remained healthy. His value would have been where they drafted Zeke.

So just add him to the next Cowboy draft class and it's already looking good for the boys.

Not sure how much of a big if it is.

I think a lot of us without medical understanding of what is going on here and direct understanding of his situation like to default to worst case scenario thinking. This is careful, but it isn't accurate, or even logical.

Reality is we are so far removed that we must wait and see. Similar to Elliott, I think so many people were down on this pick, that they didn't do any research into why the pick was made and who the player was. Jaylon Smith is viewed as the best linebacker coming out of the draft. You look at news stories before his injuries and there is almost a consensus that he is higher than Myles Jack.

If he turns out even half as good as we think he could be...that is just the cherry on the cake.

If you can get your franchise QB and RB in one draft that is great.

Heck if you can get your franchise QB in the 4th round...That is hard enough.

It's not an if. It's a when. Print that. 2017.

If it happens later this year by some stroke of God, let's consider ourselves fortunate. But it WILL happen in 2017.

What do you mean?

Broaddus just posted this 1 hour ago:

I said last night. EMG reports improved but still no sensation in nerve to help raise his foot up.

What is News: EMGs improved but still foot drop - logical, but has never been mentioned before. Need to talk to the PhDs about it.
Electromyography (EMG) is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). Motor neurons transmit electrical signals that cause muscles to contract. An EMG translates these signals into graphs, sounds or numerical values that a specialist interprets.

Potential bad news for playing THIS season - Broaddus just said something medically based that the nerve is improving but he still has footdrop. There is no way Broaddus came up with the word EMG without some medical person telling him about it.
If he actually has this inside info and it is current update info, then highly unlikely Jaylon plays this year. This is kind of contradictory to activating Jaylon from NFI, because if he still has foot drop now, how in the world would he rehab completely etc. He can rehab, but probably not totally. Also if he has footdrop, Jaylon must be wearing the brace ALL THE TIME, which conflicts with some of the videos and pictures we have seen. Very strange.

Again, I will ask about this and post what I found out. May take some time.

I just think the plan was for '17 all along but it's just my opinion of course. Such a serious injury and he's such a marvelous athlete and great kid. They simply rolled the dice and it's looking pretty good at this point. Win some (Dak Prescott, Jaylon Smith) Lose some (Randy Gregory) JJ loves to gamble.

It doesn't have to be just your opinion. They called it when they drafted him. When they drafted him, they clearly said they expected him to be ready in 2017. You've just got a number of our overzealous fans that fall on every mention of an iota of progress in hoping he takes the field this year. You nailed it bro. The design was always to get him ready to play next year.

& When he takes the field next year, the beast on defense will have risen.

Not necessarily, Ive witnessed many over the years pat themselves on the back over losses bc they called it and how it would go down beforehand. Some enjoy the misery after indulging themselves in it for so long

Ain't that the truth. Romo haters are notorious for that. And now Risen is waiting on pins and needles for Dak to have a bad game so he can come out from under his rock and gloat.
