The NFL is trying to get him on process crimes
Didn't she text him that she would ruin his life if he left her? If anything this is a postive. The cowboys knew about it, everyone knows what happened. NFL just being super careful because if the disaster that was the Ray Rice case. But that was 100% on them. They even saw the video.

I disagree. I shouldn't have to give my phone records to an employer with no subpoena power. You cannot trust them to protect personal unrelated information as shown in the deflate gate case. They conduct their investigation and prove I did something wrong by available public information or drop it.Exactly. You know who doesn't give over phone records?
Tom Brady and Aaron Hernandez.
Why?
Because they had something to hide.
EE gave over phone records likely as proof that his loony ex-gf is gold digging.

Didn't that really happen with Brady?Zeke: "What phone? I don't even have a phone!"
The female investigator they hired is also a Giants fan. No bias here really. My Take:
The college and the local constabulary decline to pursue any type of disciplinary or punitive actions against Elliott.
The league now steps in. There is no swift justice here. This hangs over his head as the team moves into a new season. Now I might be okay with this if the league had an impartial arbitrator to look at these things and come to a conclusion what, if anything, should be done. But having the league office, who is paid by the league owners, who have 32 different allegiances makes this not justice, but a toe hold on beating your competition if Elliott is forced to sit.
There is nothing which will assuage the notion this is special interests acting out from their clandestine power positions to cheat the Cowboys, as they did in the punishment meted out about the no cap season and this gossamer agreement of not violating the spirit of the cap by unique contracts.
This smells of Mara and another dose of bull stools because he is corrupt and hates this team.
Just my opinion.
