The NFL has no business of acting like the FBI, they are not a law enforcement agency. Let the professionals conduct the work and if found innocent, leave it at that.

What is next? ATT, McDonalds, Exxon, etc acting like law enforcement of judge, jury and executioner? Sure, they have the right to fire/suspend an employee but it should be based on our justice system's results......not their own investigative team.

It is what it is but the NFL is getting too big for their britches

The nflpa should be taking this to court to show how uneven and arbitrary the league office is on handling these cases. And shouldn't be allowed to any longer. The texts turned over by the friend asking her to lie was cut and dried that this girl was making it up for extortion. If only the police/da would have pressed charges against her, then I don't think the nfl office would have had the nerve to drag this out this long.

"Watson!,, hand me the bag and be right quick about it,man"
:hammer:
You, my friend! dead Nuts drilled it.

There were reports that email that had Brady's personal conversation about Peyton Manning were released. The NFL clearly didn't protect his private conversations, and there could have been other stuff as well that were viewed.

personal conversation about Peyton Manning. Wow that is more important than proving you are innocent and avoiding a four game suspension.

This all assumes a fair and neutral investigator. If you do not trust the one doing an investigation then you are not going to cooperate.

Brady not trusting the NFL when they have a vested interest in him going into the HoF squeaky clean for their image is where it does not make sense.

I have no issue at all whatsoever with people not trusting the police or district attorney.

People tend to forget how special the NFL had treated Brady over the years - so for him to suddenly act suspicious was really dumb. Of course its pretty clear that he did indeed do what was charged; so there you are.
Like so many scandals it was the coverup that got him. He should have just come out and said I told the ball guys to deflate the footballs because they fit my hand better. Never thought PSI really mattered that much. I can see I violated the rules and I apologize. If he had done that nothing would have happened.

A phone is for phone numbers and addresses

Are you serious. Either you are old (which I am) or you are out of touch.

Today the cell phone is your PC, fax, text, homing pigeon, email, camera, word processor and total business tool. And I left out a lot of other daily and essential use.

No just have a lot more common sense then you do. None of that is ESSENTIAL; you choose to make it so.

I would think the phone records would prove once and for all that Zeke did nothing wrong. Hopefully they can move on this quickly and get this issue put to bed

So you do know me because I have no sense at all. Hence my allgence to this forum.

Just to educate you a little. My firm and along with thousands of other businesses requires a use of a smartphone (i.e. Blackberry) because of their multi use capabilities.

But you would know more because of your commen sense.

I do not have a tinfoil hat on; the NFL is so paranoid right now that they are frankly insane about this. With no smoking gun in any way shape or form they are terrified that something will show up later on after he is cleared so they are dragging everything out in hopes of finding something and if not that then saying we took that long to be thorough.

What the NFL should do to all the idiot whiners and cryers on DV is say this

"NFL players have a lower rate of DV use then the comparable part of the US Population that age. We do our best but there will be incidents. Witch hunts and coverups are equally wrong."

I want this behind them but NFL is going to cover every base they can to avoid any embarrassment like they had in the Ray Rice case. I don't believe anyone is out to get the Cowboys, this woman made an allegation that I think is false to extort money and in the end I think that is what they will find. I think celebrities need to start filing law suites against those who make these false allegations that may start to deter others.

My Take:

The college and the local constabulary decline to pursue any type of disciplinary or punitive actions against Elliott.

The league now steps in. There is no swift justice here. This hangs over his head as the team moves into a new season. Now I might be okay with this if the league had an impartial arbitrator to look at these things and come to a conclusion what, if anything, should be done. But having the league office, who is paid by the league owners, who have 32 different allegiances makes this not justice, but a toe hold on beating your competition if Elliott is forced to sit.

There is nothing which will assuage the notion this is special interests acting out from their clandestine power positions to cheat the Cowboys, as they did in the punishment meted out about the no cap season and this gossamer agreement of not violating the spirit of the cap by unique contracts.

This smells of Mara and another dose of bull stools because he is corrupt and hates this team.

Just my opinion.
To add to that:: there was a recent report of another player that came out in this year draft who had similar issues prior to being drafted. From what I've read the league has opted not to pursue an investigation because it happened before he was drafted and therefore was not under the league's jurisdiction at the time. I'm curious why Zeke's case is special and I suspect it is due to the reasons you stated.
