When the masses realize Jerry is about money first they will understand the reality of our Dallas Cowboys. The winning tradition is a distant afterthought to revenue generation.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ This is rather obvious at this point.

Report reveals Cowboys’ stance on Dak Prescott contract
May 31, 2024
by Grey Papke

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have not fully committed to each other in recent public comments, but the Cowboys do not have any real doubts privately about their quarterback.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on Friday’s “NFL Live” that the Cowboys remain “all-in” on re-signing Prescott, and fully intend to prevent the quarterback from becoming a free agent in 2025.

This is meaningless. Dallas will not be signing Dak to a $60+ million per year contract. All depends
on how much money Dak wants and I do not see a home discount.

They always say that then offer him 30m a year when the rate is more like 50m, then they say they tried and we wanted him.
Because that's what he's worth. A cap hit higher than that and they can't field a proper team. They paid him 40M a year, but his average cap hits were 21M a year. Because that's his actual worth.

They're waiting to see what they've got in Lance. If he's all that, Dak gets a $1.95 offer.

In the Cowboys first preseason game against the Rams, Trey Lance throws three TD passes to three different receivers. In addition, he has a couple of runs for 30 yards total. There are no turnovers, he looks composed and confident and his accuracy is excellent.

The Cowboys are still all in on Dak?

Remember, Trey Lance is a free agent after the 2024 season. If Trey Lance should look good in the upcoming preseason, he is not going to settle for a backup contract.

If the Cowboys extend Dak then I think they will have no choice but to trade Trey Lance and it's not impossible that he would be highly successful in the future.

Sorry to say so, but I get the feeling that if a QB comes along who displays a knack for winning under pressure, Dak will no longer be secure as this team's starter. That's just the nature of professional football in the NFL. For the time being, however, he appears to be a wanted member of this team. Jerry Jones will normally be a faithful GM whenever regular season success is secure. Whenever it isn't, I seriously doubt he'd be "all in." Count on it.

If Lance shows in preseason that he's passable as a starter Dak will cut or traded at final roster cuts - ths is the most economical option.

What this article or tweet doesn’t say is how much. If Dak signs for 40 million then it could be palatable. If Jerry signs Dak, CD and Micah to record breaking contracts at their respective positions then I may be taking a break for a while.

You can’t pay record setting salaries to players that disappear in playoff games. You just can’t.

Dak is the cornerstone of the offense and plays his worst football against playoff teams and in the playoffs.

Micah is the cornerstone of the defense and he disappears against playoff teams and in the playoffs.

Same with CD.

I feel like this thread and most of the discussions surrounding Dak is if he is a good player or not. It’s not that black and white. Dak, Micah and CD are great players. I’m fully convinced of that. But I’m also fully convinced they have some mental block or some issue with the playoffs. They’re great players that consistently play bad in big games. Making these guys the highest paid players is amateur, stupid and frustrating. I could care less about 12 win seasons when our core players on the team play soft and scared in the playoffs and big games.

The Packers game was a fluke. Now would the 49ers smack us up yet again? Yep.
A fluke? The cowboys didn’t even belong in the same field as them.

The cowboys are 2-5 in the playoffs since Dak became the QB.

He’s had a top ten defense in 3 of those games and lost 2 of them.

This teams culture, mental makeup, are soft. It comes from Jerry all the way down. It wasn’t a fluke. It’s what happens to the cowboys because they don’t think they need to show up and play games. They’ve already won.

Well said. For better or worse this is how the Jones boys have chosen to conduct business. I do take exception to the whole "mediocre" thing though. This team has won the division in 4 of the last 8 years and made the playoffs in 5 of 8. Only Zeke's suspension in 2017, Kellen Moore's stupidity in 2019 and Dak's 2020 injury have stopped it from being 8 for 8. But that's football. Crap happens. We would all love for it to be better.. but I would stop short of declaring it "mediocre." This team has been at least "good" for the last 8 years and there is reason that with Zimmer running a more physical defense and the Dak/McCarthy synergy improving, it can be better his year than it was last. Championship level? Who knows? But they have a lot of ingredients in place to continue to be a good team for a while. If another Mahomes shows up in the draft, fine get him and replace Dak.. otherwise.. um screamin my head off for Dak to keep getting better and for the whole damn team to show up in the playoffs, not just him.
I think fans like you simply don't get it ... PLAYOFFS!!!! We are MILES away from winning 4 consecutive games in the postseason.

I don't care what side of the Dak equation you are on...but WE should all agree that Dak is not winning 4 straight postseason games with THIS team and coaching staff. Dak at best is Russell Wilson from his legion of boom days. Which means we better get a dominant defense and running game if we ever expect to win more than 1 playoff game per season. So expecting Patrick mahomes type of play just because you pay him Patrick mahomes type money is just the thinking from fans who loathe Dak and a front office that is clueless.

Dak is who he is at this point. No amount of money is going to change that. Better team and better coaching is the ONLY way we will ever make a Superbowl with Dak as our Quarterback. And that is true for most QBs...but there are far too many people focused on Dak. The real focus needs to be on what's around Dak.

Jerry isn’t going to say anything in public to upset Dak.

But Jerry holds a grudge. (Ask Jimmy.)

And Dak emptied the stadium in the 3rd qtr.

Jerry’s stadium.

Man-crying + humiliation
