You really do not like Trey Lance, do you?

The possibility exists that Dallas and/or other team(s) would attempt to sign Lance. It is not a certainty. You may believe it is a certainty of not occurring and may eventually be proven right. I do not know.

My crystal ball was jinxed by the Crowdstrike outage today. Sucker grew bright, shook a couple of times, and went completely dark. Now I am on hold waiting on technical support to pick up. They just do not build them the way they used to...
Cant figure out why 6 hates trey so much. No benefit of doubt no nothing. Itx weird. I guess 6 went all in on told ya so's and cant back out now?

Report updates what Cowboys' Trey Lance improved after ankle injury
Story by Zac Wassink, Yardbarker 7/19/2024

In a story published on Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN detailed how private quarterback coach Jeff Christensen has helped Dallas Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance following Lance's gruesome ankle injury that caused him to need multiple surgeries in 2022.

"The major change was to his footwork," Archer said about Lance's development. "Christensen wanted Lance to be more 'violent' with his lower body. And a slight change in his grip took away pain he had felt in his arm."

Archer noted that "Lance and Christensen partnered up 15 months ago" when the 24-year-old was recovering from his ankle injury with the San Francisco 49ers after Brock Purdy had emerged as San Francisco's full-time starting signal-caller when healthy. Lance ultimately lost the primary backup job with the 49ers to Sam Darnold, and San Francisco traded Lance to Dallas last August.

Trey Lance.

Yes, this is the CZ where fans will wring hands and be all depressed "Friends" on the coffeehouse couch to discuss a 4th rate Jones project.

What is wrong with you women that there is endless discussion about QB Trey Lance who lost out to Darnold and a Jerald pick that needs work to challenge Cooper Rush?

Some dignity, anxious lads, some decorum!
Trey Lance is a 5-INT QB waiting to happen.

The 49ers sized him up. Jerald sized him up.
Who do you believe?

He should be allowed to shine in preseason if for nothing more than becoming trade bait.
The other 31 teams know the difference between pre-season games and regular season games. If the Cowboys don’t want to use Lance in regular season games other teams won’t either.

Trey Lance is Jerry Jones' fallback option.

Jones and Romo's relationship was rock solid until Romo's latest injury sidelined him and Prescott performed so well that Romo became expendable in his opinion. Anyone not observing what occurred in real time--a.k.a. the team chemistry mass euphoria event--were not very observant.

35+ years. And some people still do not understand how Jerral Wayne Jones Sr. ticks.
How did staying with the "hot hand" rookie work out in the #1 seeds first playoff game against the worst pass defense in recent history...another great decision by the front office.

What trade bait? After the preseason he will be worth nothing. He will not have time to learn a 3rd offense on a new team and will be a FA. Who wants to pay $5.3M for an emergency QB, that does not know your offense?

None of this even matters if we see that Dak has signed his deal. Lance could be all world in camp or in the pre season
It still matters. What if Dak gets injured. Still need to know what Lance can do.
What if another teams QB gets injured. Get turn into a good trade.

I would rather have a young QB with a high floor like Purdy.
Take away the skill players Purdy has, and see what you get. Oh, 3 straight losses. We seen it.
Only thing that saves Dak here is Jerry's stupidity, again.

Yeah but you don't think he has it in his mind that hey I could possibly be the starting qb? If Dak signs a deal, there's no way we're going to say hey dak get out of here, we're letting Lance play. Lance smartly should demand a trade, let the Cowboys figure it out, why make a trade for him if you had no actual plans to keep him and dak was the plan all along!??

Why more people don’t realize that Jerry didn’t, and never would, trade for a back up QB is beyond me.

That’s not how Jerry has ever operated since he became owner. That’s not a “sexy” move.

The second that trade went through it was set in stone that barring some kind of travesty happening Lance is going to get his shot.

Dak not doing himself any favors was just a bonus for Jerry and his lack of a new contract only further shows that Jerry didn’t bring Lance in to play benchwarmer.
MC, I am completely neutral about who is the starting QB here. I’m neither a Dak hater nor do I think he is the blameless savior.

But thinking Dak is complete trash, that he is no longer in the Cowboys plans and that an untested Trey Lance, already dumped by one team and has never taken a meaningful snap for this team is now the heir apparent is a stretch at best. And something that strikes me more intended to provoke strong reactions from certain people than an actual well conceived opinion. Hey it's an opinion forum, and you are entitled to yours like anyone else.

I just happen to think declaring that a guy who has been 73-41 as a starting QB in this league as a complete joke is an intentional exaggeration. Yes, he has played awful in several big games and he’s 2-5 in the playoffs. That’s unacceptable. But are we saying Marcus Mariota and Taysom Hill are better QBs because they have each won 3 playoff games?

Look I’m as tired as anyone watching Dak play poorly in big games. And I’m all for finding a better starting QB. But as it stands right now, I disagree saying Dak is no longer the starter here and saying Trey Lance is the future sounds crazy to me.

If Lance lights it up in preseason against 3rd stringers and camp bodies, he will at least earned the right to be considered having a future here. But saying because JJ made a trade for him proves anything other than Jerry is Jerry is way out there.

I’m all for giving Lance a chance to show us something. But until he does, declaring Dak as done here is an extreme position that seems more intended to provoke than to have merit. That’s my opinion anyway.

We are talking the FO brainless trust on that one. :muttley:

This was a year ago. There was an opportunity to get a young QB prospect. Either by trade or in the draft.
They got one, and fans are not happy, though that is what they been crying for, for years.

Trey is there to compete for a roster spot. And to be prepared if / when needed. Cooper will prepare the same way as he has always done.
It really is that simple to look at it that way. Not some convoluted conspiracy theory about how Jerry's brain works, or does not work.
