I believe that was explained. It's all about Jerry, even tho he's a billionaire, not wanting to write off millions of dollars on a new coaching staff.

What's also not mentioned is that the financing for the stadium has been difficult to obtain. They've gotten it, of course, but it's tough times for mega projects. Half of that cost for that stadium is coming out of his own pocket. If he's been hit hard by some bad investments, I could see him eye-balling the bottom line.

I would think his bottom line would be hurt more by keeping around a clearly incompetent coaching staff. At any rate, I doubt the coach's salary weighs into Jerry's decisions at all. Someone is trying to make themselves look smart by pulling that out of their rear ends. If Jerry was so concerned about $$, he wouldn't have just made RW11 the 2nd highest paid receiver in football.

Firing Wade won't solve the true problem. Given the type of environment in which Wade is forced to coach, it's very difficult to accurately assess his performance. His power was blatantly usurped at least once this season.

They have to say that. Means nothing. They want the team and coaching staff to focus on the games remaining. Ask him again after the season is over.

;)

:hammer::hammer::hammer:

If not Jerry will experience an even bigger economic downturn going into that new stadium with Captain Cupcake and the Prince of the Ivey League. I'll go bonkers if coaching changes are not made and we miss the playoffs. Jerry isn't selling me anymore of his horse**** next year. It'll be more than a decade now.

I think the best we can hope for is Bruce Read has learned something this year that will make him better next year. Wade's track record suggests he won't be getting rid of his special teams coach.

Jerry would lose more money even in a tight economy by not firing the Headcoach. It saids a bad signal for a new 1 billion dollar stadium and one with the most expensive psl's ever

Yep he will lose more than that if he keeps Wade

No way. New stadium, with a pre-paid season tickets and luxury suites, plus the highest merchandise rate in the league? The TO, TR and Ware uniforms alone will keep the $$$ rolling in.

I don't agree. The big redhead is only signed for this year so I don't see JJones resigning him for the same amount with how the offense performed this year.

I could easily see Garrett, Stewart, and Read gone next year.

However, I do see the scenario of JJones feeling comfortable with Garrett enough to keep him on anyways at a cheaper rate.

I hope not... but JJ is cheap like that.

That's the one change I'd like to see. ST were never great under Bruce Dehaven, but they never stunk either.

I used to love how Coach Joe Avezzano would get fired up and into the players faces.

We need someone with that kind of fire IMO.

Read has been coaching in this league for far too long already. Believe me, he isn't learning anything new. Read, Brian Stewart and Garrett have to go. If Norv loses his team and wants to come here I'll accept Wade still and expect him to dial Capers # also. Not happening though, nor do I care for it too.

You guys want a darkhorse that may work?

HC - Dick LeBeau (yah I know about Cincy)
OC - Norv Turner
DC - Dom Capers/ maybe Romeo Crennell

This can happen and would be an upgrade over the mules we have right now. Don't care what anyone says, LeBeau has a better 34 than Cupcake. Norv is what Garrett aspires to be. Capers can do LeBeau's dirty work on defense. All 3 of these guys would want to work together.

not one thing you just said has any chance of happening.

Lebeau will never get a head coaching job again nor do I think he wants one.

Norv turner is going only one place, to the playoffs.

capers and crennell will be working on the same staff most likely next year.

or crennell could end up as the dc in new england or miami if capers or pasqualoni get Head Coaching jobs.

I wish Phillips really had total control of this team. If Garrett is only signed for one year, Phillips should get to pick his own coordinator if Garrett leaves. If he wants Jason Garrett, he should have the power to dictate some of the offense. I just wonder how much say Phillips has over the offense. Garrett is getting paid a lot of jack.

If I'm Wade Phillips, I don't want floating picks and pick sixes against the Steelers. Garrett just doesn't know when to play it close to the vest at times. As a result, Romo turns the ball over.

Wade Phillilps wanted Mike Salari as his offensive line coach but Jerry wanted Houke.

I guarantee you Norv Turner wouldn't run this offense the way Garrett has run it at times this year.

Mike Martz got the ball to Roy Williams with much less talent than Garrett has to play with. For crying out loud, Brad Johnson completed a bomb to him in the Meadowlands when he caught the ball with one arm. Corey Webster was defending on the play.

Tony Romo and Jason Garrett better get with the program. I know Williams is hobbled a bit, but he has been open. It would help if Garrett would let him run a route that wasn't 20 yards down the field.

Who did Martz learn from?

Norv Turner

He is cheap when it comes to coaches. Not the players obviously but JJ don't like paying coaches the last year left on their contract if they aren't with the team. Business 101 for Jerry under the section called "Fiscal Responsibility" in his business book. Plus Jerry pretty much has that stadium sold out next season so if you don't like the coach, well the ticket is already payed for.

He got the financing for this stadium and is getting it up just before and during the economic downturn. I wouldn't pay Garrett $250K to stay on as OC. I rather have Al Davis calling plays. At least a long bomb to use Owens and RW once in a while would get called. Joke of course. Wellthe Al Davis part.

What in the world does the economy have to do with who coaches the Dallas Cowboys? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard......:lmao2:

Don't laugh because there's a hint of truth in it.

Companies around the country, perhaps even the world, are going to be scrutinizing their advertising budgets as well as their " business development " departments. That means less sponsorships and less business/entertainment events, which means less money for Jerrah to spend.

Perhaps most of us don't realize it because it's been part of us since birth, but football IS part of the entertainment industry and as such, not exactly " essential " to life. * Ok, you can shoot me now *.

Hmm, what does darkhorse mean to you? There are possibilities but they fall into the darkhorse category, as stated on top of the post I wrote my charming friend. It's necessary to put those disclaimers in for the aggressive types. :)

So I got you down for Dallas winning no problem and San Diego winning no problem. This is a no problem league when it comes to you predicting games I see. This is of course info from 2 different posts from you. Any other games you predict this week? You should put money on games, sounds like you'd be bringing in the dough by the truck loads. 1 of the games we just talked about is due for a let down, it always seems to be the case with both teams. I'm banking on us winning. Not a breeze and all this surety you express though. Nonetheless I hope your dead on, you are very knowledgeable IMHO.

Questions please. Why is Dom Capers so much more deserving of a HC position over LeBeau? What has Capers done in the last while that even competes with operating a top 5 defense almost every year for pretty much the last 5 years and to boot running a defense that has won a SB in the last 5 years? LeBeau not wanting the gig I understand, but to say there are so many others deserving over a guy "who would never get a chance anywhere", come on now. Why is Wade more deserving?

Ridiculous huh? I suppose the NFL operating a league for profit is a pipe dream. You know, all those 32 teams are out there to jump around for everyone behind the tube to be nice people. Only because they like to chase pigskin. You ever see $3 million?

Yah, ridiculous! Bad economy or not it's bad fiscal management to pay people who are on the books but not contributing to the organization. Jerry is a businessman before an NFL owner and a good businessman understands fiscal management. Remember $3 million, which for some reason is a joke to you, is at least another $3 million to hire the new coach. $6 million at least now.

Now if Jerry thought his new stadium would be empty because of the coach he has, then we are talking another ball game. You do have to win sometime to keep people coming and a good coach will do that. But Jerry has most of the seats already sold for next season.
