Rest starters or go for 12 wins?

Cowboys play at 10 AM so they will not have the luxury of knowing the results of the early games. Play for 12 wins and hope enough happens that they get the #2 seed? Or rest the starters?

IMO rest the starters.

With nothing to gain if we win and everything to lose if we have a key starter get injured, I think we should rest whoever we can while still trying to be competitive.

That means Romo with his back issues rests, Murray with his broken hand, Martin and Free with their ankles and Dez just because he plays so hard. I'd also probably go ahead and rest Witten.

On defense, I'd only sit the players who have been fighting through injuries like Rolando McClain and possibly Henry Melton (if injury is the reason for his reduced playing time). I'd probably limit a few other key players as much as possible.

Would love to see Vaughan get the start at QB over Weeden, primarily because I want to see what Vaughan can do and think he could really use the experience, but I don't expect that to happen.

I'd view this as our playoff bye week since we won't get one.

I just read Garrett plans for the starters to play their "usual amount of time"

My opinions matters and I'm ok with it.

I will accept what Garrett decides (mostly because I have no choice :)) but hope that no one gets hurt

You have to play the starters for two reasons.. Given two upsets san fran and seattle, the cowboys secure the number two seed.

Secondly, its the Commanders.

Teams usually play better coming off a bye. The stats back that up. Rest the offense.

Its been a long season. Guys have bruises and pulls. And more importantly, their legs. They are going to need fresh legs for NFL Playoff football.

Rest. Get their mind right. Go over schemes. rest. Stretch.

Rest all that you can....The game is meaningless....

The only argument i can understand is keeping momentum going....and I get it

But I dont know. If just one starter goes down. Gets banged up, in this game....its not worth it. the game means nothing,

get them some rest. watch film. go over schemes. etc etc. get them ready for GB/DET.

A few days ago, maybe even in this thread, I was all for playing starters, but the more I think about it I just don't think it's worth it.

All it takes is one shot to Romo or Dez's back, or someone rolling up on Tyron/Martin/Frederick's knee to screw up our playoff chances.

No resting. We don't know what will happen in the late games. Get the 12 !!!

The Cowboys clinch home-field advantage throughout NFC playoffs with: a win plus a Cardinals loss or tie and a Lions-Packers tie.
Dallas clinches a first-round bye with:
1) a win plus a Seahawks loss or tie plus a Cardinals loss or tie
2) a win plus a Lions-Packers tie
3) a tie plus a Seahawks loss and a Cardinals loss
4) a tie plus a Seahawks tie, a Cardinals loss or tie and Lions-Packers does not end in a tie

If both Seattle and Arizona lose, Dallas gets a bye regardless of whether they win or lose vs Washington.
If they lose, they could be sacrificing a 3rd round home game though, if it came to that.

My concern would be...if Dallas treats this as the bye week and rests everybody, then St.Louis and San Fran win, that will be three weeks for the starters without playing.

They could be rusty.

Still, I rest everybody.

the odds of a player suffering an injury is probably higher than the odds of GB and DET tying

I think its a bad decision if these reports are true.... I mean either your going to try and win the game or not. So none of this play a quarter stuff either. Why would u do that?

I get it, playing for the bye. But, I say we just rest our starters. No goofing around.

Just bubble wrap them put them on a shelve till game time in the playoffs. They could get hurt taking a crap.

Not what is posted at NFL.com.

if all 3 lose Arz, Seattle and Dallas they are all 11-5 both Seahawks and Cards would have better conference records. So trying to see where the tie breaker goes to Dallas should all 3 be 11-5?

For determining the tie breaker you eliminate the non-division winners. This means our head to head over Seattle secures us the Bye.
