The shocking part was they did not appear to be any changes from the Saints game to the Ravens game. They played exactly the same defense and got run over again.

If they really wanted to stop the run they could do it. They could play 5 DL like the Eagles do. Or by committing more than just the front 7, run blitzing is a thing everywhere else but Dallas apparently. Or how about the radical idea of playing Kneeland at RDE and Parsons at OLB? It should come as no surprise the last 2 weeks teams have run directly at Parson the majority of the time as he cannot shed the run blocking as easily as he can the pass blocking. Kneeland eating those blocks and letting Parsons run downhill on running downs seems too logical for Dallas.

But instead of trying anything to change it up, they stuck with the same defense and got run over the same way again.

Zimm doesnt have the players to run his D he has big LB's with 4 DL's that can get up field and DB's who cover side to side and safties who can cover...we have like 40% of that
then it doesnt make sense to hire him as dc does it? also kendricks doesnt seem that big

Rex is a blowhard…living off his father’s legacy. If he was good he wouldn’t be working as a talking head at BSPN.

Run Blitzing sounds good, but there are still individual assignments involved in that. Sometimes even under the previous DC players will shoot into the same gap and create a log jam for their team mates but not for the running back who simply finds an unmanned gap the other direction and gashes them.

Yes, they can stop the run but it still takes guys doing their assignments to succeed. Zim can call all kinds of things but can or will the players execute it. Dlaw doesn’t always set the edge like he’s supposed to. Donovan Wilson isn’t always in the right position. The only guy on defense who’s been consistent is J.Lew

In theory his defense should have worked and may still. But the issue is guys not doing their job and now it’s going to be difficult losing Micah and DLaw. Part of me thinks that the defense from a run stopping standpoint may continue to improve and get consistent even with Micah and Dlaw gone. But the pass rush is where they are going to suffer.

If the offense can get a lead and the defense stuffs the run, then Zim can get creative with some pressure packages to generate sacks. But they can’t even get to those because they’ve been AWFUL at stopping the run and they have a trash CB opposite Diggs. Thankfully they benched him prior to him giving up a TD which I was thrilled at. And his slightly better back up sealed the game with a pick.

you mean the guy that has two sacks and leaving the league in tackles? This is not the same defense it's the same result different defense but it's nowhere near the same and at least I think Mike Zimmer will get it worked out and figured out because I think he will not try to stick with the same thing every game Dan Quinn would not change his defense for anyone and these blow out were on a regular basis as well. Quinn was here what three seasons and he was allowed to do what he needed to put the players he thought he needed on the field Mike Zimmer said one offseason and according to you all he had AGM that didn't really do anything they gave him a bunch of trash to work with and you want him to turn it all around in one short season with deron bland hurt and all three of his starting pass rushers hurt?

I understand the frustration but some of the things you all are saying in here this is not the same defense at all yes it had a couple blocks in a row so it looked the same but I believe Mike Zimmer will find a way to adjust where Dan Quinn just doesn't know how to adjust or doesn't want to. I mean literally Armstrong and Fowler has one total sack between them they went to washington and quinn's defense and they ain't doing anything.. Who thought they could be starters nobody oh that's right Dan Quinn did I'll take Mike Zimmer over Dan Quinn I think he'll get it figured out but Dan Quinn did have a lot more time with this team to insert his own style scheme and players Mike zimmer's on a one year deal he's supposed to fix this overnight with all these major injuries../.

Even though I wanted Ryan over Zimmer, I don't think that would've been the right choice now. He's just a blowhard who's just trying to build himself up by spouting off crap he can't possibly back up. He'd earn more respect by keeping silent on the matter and proving his point on a future opportunity.

Rex Ryan spent some time with the Cowboys for a while and their performance was atrocious. Our fans were delighted to see him leave.

He praised the Dallas defense to the skies after the Cleveland win.

Then promptly ripped them for the Saints loss.

Just another big mouth looking to make a proclamation that gets him noticed....
