Throwing out the contracts as judging solely by play, Seymour > Spears. I think he would be the Charles Haley to put the defense over the top.

Used in a strong rotational group, Seymour would add as much to the defense as Brooking did to the linebacker group this past season...and if Buehler won the field goal kicker job in addition to the kickoff responsibility, a ready made slot for Seymour would appear with the retention of Spears, Bowen, and Hatcher as well. Now that would be some rotational strength to push teams an entire game.

Then draft a mamouth nose tackle high the draft, and this defense has become very hard to move the length of the field as well as punch out short yardage first downs or Red Zone successes.

Problem is our defense still lacks two to three catalytic players.

We don't create turn overs either because of our scheme not being aggressive enough, or our players just aren't good enough.

I can't stand this - the whole "the Cowboys lack playmakers on defense," and "catalytic" being the word of the week. How does this team NOT have as many or more playmakers on defense than, say, the last 4 teams left standing in this years playoffs, and no doubt with the two playing Sunday.
1. Ware (non-arguable.)
2. Jenkins (has really begun to emerge and I think he's a safe bet.)
3. Anthony Spencer (The player I'm most excited about for next season. Clearly was a half step away the whole first half of the season, and then took 2 steps forward in the 2nd)
4. Jay Ratliff (In the backfield and far more noticable than any other DT playing in the league.)
5. And this is probably a stretch, but Terrence Newman created turnovers this season due to teams having to account for the newfound Jenkins. Just look at how he set the tone of the second Skins/Dallas game.
This billion dollar defense is only lacking a stud (and very rare find, mind you) safety, and even that was not what kept the Cowboys out of the Super Bowl.

Rudy, always giving you respect here....I think that the dynamics to the advantage of the offense occurs much more strongly, as well as scoring ability with short field advantages and even limiting opponents on crucial third down and Red Zone turnpoints in games.
