They hate on him because he makes them uncomfortable. They don't like his confidence. They don't like that he doesn't care that they don't like his confidence. And he's comfortable in his own skin. Plus he's a 4.0 student. I'm a big fan.
Cosignage 100%.

Didn't he graduate from Stanford with an MS degree? He is one of my favorite non cowboy players. Quite the story from Compton to Stanford to the NFL.

Even if people thinks he's a tool, doesn't mean one wouldn't want him on the team. I wouldn't say he's a tool. Just mouths off, but is that cockiness or confidence.
on any other team = cocky, on the cowboys = confidence....LOL
We had Deion, so why not Sherman.

Deion was and still is infinitely more tool-y than Richard Sherman.

I have zero problems with Sherman and his confidence. He plays very good and backs it up on the field.

IMO, Sherman is part of the reason that Seattle is so brash and has so much swagger on defense. He is important to that team in many ways.

Smart as hell too.

His passion fuels his teammates. Like Dez for us.

Read further. His Stanford degree is "written in invisible ink on rice paper" .... my words.
Good add regarding him coming "straight out of Compton" ... with attitude;)

Agree ... Deion wins the toolage game. Not a fan. Don't despise him. But not my cup of tea ... that's all. Like some of his commentary because he makes me laugh. Football is fun (Russell "last name" Wilson ... classic).

Show me a CB who doesn't talk the talk, and I'll show you some peanuts. Comes with the territory.

Remember Bill Lambeer? Everyone who wasn't a Pistons fan hated his guts. Everyone who wasn't a Pistons fan secretly wished he was a member of <their> team.

Tool-y guys can be like that.

I'm pretty sure people "hate on (***)" Sherman because he is an arrogant loud mouth who is dumb enough to think his opinions would matter even if he wasn't such a talented player.

Do you really think people don't like him because he doesn't care that people don't like his confidence?

Confidence is awesome. Arrogance is ugly. Sherman is arrogant and ugly.
People prefer sportsmanship, respect, and class....Sherman is the opposite.

Deion was full of himself too.

Sherman is a great teammate. Very smart, gives respect when it is due. It is a intense game, so yes he talks smack.

To be honest, Crabtree deserved that verbal beatdown. So did Skip Bayless. So did Garcon.

You are allowed to be cocky in this league.

This Sherman thing is being blown way out of proportion. He is neither the first nor the last player who will produce controversy. We have seen this all before with the Warren Sapp's, Deion Sanders, Jim McMahon's and Shannon Sharpe's of the world. The majority of NFL players are arrogant and have pretty good egos. Sherman just puts it outside where others keep it in. If you don't think that you are better than the man you face on Sunday then what the hell are you doing there? If you don't think that you can whip him, then what are you doing there? If you don't think that you can get inside his head, then again, what are you doing there? If you don't have an intense hatred of losing then you won't give your best. Chuck Noll always thought that if he had to motivate a player, he just as soon cut him.

You are probably too young to remember, but there was a time when athletes prided themselves on being humble (I know, sounds like double talk, but it was true) and being about the team. Brash is actually something relatively new in American athletics. Kind of started with the Joe Namath era stuff (there have always been exceptions, like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, etc... but I'm talking what most characterizes an approach to athletics in any given era). So confidence is not the same as being brash. Confidence is not telling everyone how great you are. The most confident people in the world don't have to tell you, they just go do it and let you tell everyone afterward.

I love the trash talk myself with Sherman he knows exactly what he's doing i can read between the lines, but hey he doesnt just say it he also goes out and proves it to so how can u be upset at that if he's proven it as well.... somebody is going to be proven right and somebody is going to be wrong

You are butt hurt to the point of needing therapy, you are sounding kinda arrogant too. You never met the guy but you know him? There's a pot and kettle joke in here somewhere ...

Butt hurt? What does that even mean? How could I possibly be hurt?
I don't have to know the person to know that he has acted classless. Sounds like you could also fit the pot and kettle joke. You don't know me and yet you claim my anus is sore. Maybe you can impress me with a reply that calls me a dawg or some other awesome Internet lingo you have adopted that makes you sound so cool and funny.
