I can honestly say this is the first celebrity death that has truly effected. Watching Kobe was one of the highlights of my youth, I watched him play from the age of 10 to 30 (damn that’s hard to believe) and just LOVED his game. I’ve always been a Mavs fan but apart from Dirk he’s my favorite player ever. I always felt he was the continuation of Jordan after MJ retired.

And now as a parent, I can’t help but feel awful for his wife. What a horrible thing to deal with. Not only losing your husband, but your child in one fell swoop. I honestly don’t know how I would go on.

I legit shed a few tears over this. It’s just unimaginably tragic.

yeah I took a few hours and spoiled my 13 yr old daughter to anything today. She chose ice cream. Best hour of my week.

Yup. Gave my 2 year old extra cuddles in the rocking chair before putting him down.

You just never know when it's your last day on Earth.

David Bowie for me, huge influence on my musical taste growing up.

I was about 12 when John Wayne and Elvis died. Back to back summers, if I'm not mistaken. But, the one that hit me hard was Keith Whitley. I was about 23 years old and he was in his prime, atop The country charts. Died of alcohol poisoning. He was around 28 years old. Google him if you've never heard him. SOUNDS LIKE PILOT ERROR SO FAR. I am interested if there was engine issues tho. That might explain him asking to go down lower.

Kudos to Mavs owner Mark Cuban who has announced that Kobes' No.# 24 will be retired among Mavs jerseys.
That's a tremendous tribute to a player that wasn't a Mavs' history player.
