I don’t listen to country but I’ll check him outI was about 12 when John Wayne and Elvis died. Back to back summers, if I'm not mistaken. But, the one that hit me hard was Keith Whitley. I was about 23 years old and he was in his prime, atop The country charts. Died of alcohol poisoning. He was around 28 years old. Google him if you've never heard him. Listen to the song, Don't close your eyes.
Nah, he was scud running. No issues with the helicopter.

I like that song though
I thought it was reported a fire broke out in the helo?Unfortunately, the pilot screwed the pooch on this one. Continued in subpar conditions without filing an instrument flight plan and flew a perfectly good helicopter into a mountain.
He had a great voice. Thanks for posting, brought back some memories of long slow dances at 2am at a local Honky Tonk. All the girls were pretty at closing time, I was too!!! Lol

I've been completely numb all day. This is an absolutely awful story.
I remember when my hometown Hornets drafted him back in 1996 and was fortunate to watch his brilliance on the court for 2 decades. Wish he could've stayed in Charlotte but oh well.
I'm devastated.
After it crashed into a mountain.
We were at lunch when it came across my phone, thought for sure it was bs at firstWhen I found out I was shocked... nobody believed it.

Yea the very first reports said they lowered a couple guys from a chopper to the crashThey no doubt had a time of it getting down there.
