Here's the thing I hope people learn from this thread - there is a difference between players who play and try hard, but just don't have the talent, and those players who might or might not have talent, but do nothing to maximize it.
I don't 'celebrate' the cutting of anyone, especially guys like Pettiti, or guys from the past like Dantzler or Ekuban. People look at guys like this as 'drains', but that just isn't fair. Parcells once came out and said something about Ekuban that will always stick with me. It was after the game he didn't even dress - Parcells was nothing but complimentary, stating Ekuban hadn't done anything wrong, was a hard worker, tried to do it, but just didn't have the talent. There is no reason to tread on guys like this or look down on them - if anything, I respect them.
I do wish Pettiti and Copper and Green and Glymph and any other player who tries to do what they can luck in the future. Just because they don't have the talent to contribute to our team does not mean they deserve the 'good riddance' treatment. Rather recognize what it is, wish them luck with some class and move on.
EDIT: A little insight. Imagine you just got a job in an Astrophysics-think-tank at Cambridge. You work you arse off to get come up with solution sets for the most advanced equations possible, everyday, but in the end, regardless of all your work, you just don't have the brain to make it. So you get let go. It isn't a 'good riddance' move. Sure, maybe you weren't the Einstein in the group, but that doesn't give the rest of the general public allowance to all you a bum. You just lost your job for no other reason than lack of God given talent.
